SP if you believe that climate change will only bring a change in the daily weather you are sadly mistaken.

The science says it will bring not only increased global temperatures but increased species extinctions, coral bleaching, reduced crop productivity, water shortages, increased damage from floods and storms, coastal flooding, increased malnutrition and disease, more deaths from heat stress floods and storms, more frequent bushfires etc.

Something to be avoided I'd say...

Darwin had just had one of the best dry seasons on record after one of the best wet seasons. CC is awesome.

Probably not so great if, for instance, you live on the Irrawaddy Delta.

Crop productivity is threatened by thoughtless greedy councils and state governemnts allowing housing development on fertile land - eg Mount Barker, Gawler and Willunga are disgraces. Bushfires are worse thaN they should be because the gestapo that runs the NPWS wont let farmers burn off excess fuel loads like they used to do 30 years ago.

According to the voting pattern at the head of this thread, 38% of SAFooty posters believe in climate change and 62% either doubt it or disagree with it. Given that Bob Brown's Labor party probably owns the site what does that say about the scientific credibility of the research we average norms in the street are being asked to cop.

You really believe that there is a link between 'Bob Brown's Labor Party owning this site (sic)' and the credibility of climate science?

Keep the Goose-ometer handy :D

Twisting the poll to suit your agenda? Applying your logic, one could say that 45% don't believe in climate change while the other 54% disagree or doubt that opinion.

Leave out those who have not made up their mind and it's 45% vs 37%.

EDIT: I just realised that the poll only adds up to 99%

I think it says more about the people who have responded to this poll than scientific research!!
The vast majority of climate scientists believe extremely strongly in climate change being attributable to humans.

Crop productivity is threatened by thoughtless greedy councils and state governemnts allowing housing development on fertile land - eg Mount Barker, Gawler and Willunga are disgraces.
SP if you are genuinely concerned about agricultural productivity you would be concerned about the projected impacts of climate change on the states water resources.

A recent study has found that:

"Modelling shows that in a 2030 climate scenario, five percent less rainfall in the Clare Valley could result in 23 percent less recharge to the region’s groundwater systems and 28 percent less surface water run-off. For the Baroota reservoir catchment, a five percent reduction in rainfall by 2030 could result in nine percent less surface run-off into the reservoir".

This will have a big impact on those primary producers who rely on groundwater or surface water on their farms - and this is just 19 years from now.

I suspect the outlook will be the same in other parts of the state too. :(

personally I don't believe in it.

A mate who works for the Climate Change mob in Canberra was an advocate for Climate Change and has changed his view. I haven't spoken to him as to why, but my view is that it's cyclical. That may be wrong and am happy to be proven wrong but so far I've heard and seen nothing to change that point of view.
