My 2 cents......

November a lil early.

December nice. A few good get together sessions before Chrissy and then hit it hard come Jan is the way to go.

I agree just a few sessions once a week for a kick and a catch, alot of hard work can come undone over the xmas and new year period :partyman:
Thats what im talkin aboooouuuut!!!!!!

Its a lose / lose situation. I am not saying its right but its a pr!ck of a call to make as a coach isnt it. Even harder if you dont have any cattle to bring from the B grade side

You wear it as a coach i say coz first of all if the players aint training they aint their for the real reasons are they? and the committee should understand where the coach is coming from if they are dropped to the B's because of their inability to stick to, i'd call it a TEAM RULE.
Its something a coach doesn't really want to do i understand that but these experienced players are players you need on the track setting an example to the young up & coming, if they can't do that tough decisions have to be made as its harming the development of these kids coming through, no pain go gain.
The blame for any loss because of being dropped for not training shouldn't come back to the coach as he & the rest of the players know the TEAM-RULES put in place at the start of the year, the coach should be commended for standing strong.
The player himself should be taking the blame as he's letting down his team-mates, coach, club & supporters.
BUT HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU SEE A PLAYER TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY BACAUSE OF FAILURE?

No Mercy.. I agree with ya totally..But if you dont have really good depth, these good players know they dont have to train bcoz there is no pressure to train as the standard of players to come up is nearly not a worry to them... the stronger the competition for spots the more you have to train... but a great quote nun the less.. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

With the teams in Div 5 for 2012 we should be in for a cracker of a season ahead if 2011 was anything to go by there was some really close games & tight finish so the season cant come around early enough especially with the Red Backs return to true form today as maybe a long cricket season first...

Welcome to div 5 Roaring Lion, but we are all playing for second behind Brahma. There big recruiting just keeps getting bigger and would have be over 15 points by now.

The main reason I would think it is beneficial is getting the boys and any new recruits together and enjoying each other's company.
Any fitness gained would generally be lost over Xmas & New Years (certainly for me anyway)

you're up early cheese! ;)

haha yeah got a new alarm clock... seems to go off every 3-5 hours though

luthies havnt trained b4 the new yr since i have been there... could be a reason why we havnt played finals?? we dont have the numbers to start pre season then with a lot of cricketers and uni kids heading back home. i feel its a long enough season without training in november. nonetheless you can run and train all you want before the first game but nothing beats match fitness. noo matter how hard u train your still buggered after the first quarter of round 1.
