There were 3 blokes in their mid 30's
Ponting
Hussey
Katich
Ponting is a legend of the game
and Hussey carried us in the Ashes so they were both safe.
Katich was injured....

His problem is that he's better than Hughes. I reckon he was stiff (Ponting gone for mine, I reckon he can't see the nut anymore) but I don't think he is doing himself any justice by carrying on. Seems to be a bitter bloke.

A week ago he scored 63 against a Dale Steyn led Seth Efrica, in the afternoon of a day/night ODI that was rain affected. I reckon his eyes are fine.
His reflexes are more of a worry at the minute but he's got an Aussie summer left in him I reckon.
Agree 100% that he's better than Hughes, but one of the trio had to go and whichever way they went someone could feel hard done by.

But it's interesting to finally have the dressing room incident confirmed by one of the participants.

Simon Katich reported under Cricket Australia Code of Behaviour
Simon Katich has been reported under the Cricket Australia Code of Behaviour provisions relating to Detrimental Public Comment following comments made by Katich about captain Michael Clarke and CA.
CA Chief Executive James Sutherland said he had been surprised and disappointed to see Katich's comment made after new full-time national selector John Inverarity had said the selection door was not closed on future selection.
"CA emphatically refutes any suggestion that Michael Clarke influenced the independent selection panel's recommendations for the 2011-12 CA contract players' list, a list that did not include Katich," he said.
"The NSP made its recommendations based on its independent assessment of Australian cricket's player needs for the next 12 months and the suggestions made by Katich are completely erroneous, inappropriate and unfair to Clarke, the selectors and to CA.
"Without compromising my confidential understanding of the selectors' confidential thinking, I can state their recommendations were completely independent of outside influence.
"I was particularly disappointed at the comments yesterday after the discussions we had with Katich in mid-2011 on inappropriate public comments he had made then," Mr Sutherland said.
He noted the normal CA process when a player is dropped is for the Chairman of Selectors to talk with the player, for the player's state association to be advised before public announcement so they can provide support if needed, and for subsequent CA follow up - a process that had been accurately followed in Katich's case. In Simon's case, this included follow up discussion with Michael Brown.
Details of the hearing will be published in the next few days.
