Considering what the great man is allegedly being paid, what is a reasonable timeframe that people think Clay Sampson should be given to get the Mudlarks into the finals?

Funny you ask was just talking to him 10 mins ago. He said if they didn't make the finals this year after 3 years of him coaching he would have a good hard think whether to go on or not. 3 years to get them into the 5 might be one year short considering where they were before he got there. In saying that apparantly they have signed a ruckman sam howe(don't quote me on the name?) played reserves flags for glenelg then went to port this year, might help them gain a spot or two up the ladder?

He came with a plan to build the club, develop a group of young colts who won a flag in 2009. Our B's played in the GF this year after finishing 9th in 2010, our A grade improved again but we just fell short of our goal. We've recruited a few over the past 2 seasons & will recruit a few more to hopefully play finals in 2012.
I read your post about Tommy Carroll on the SANFL thread, what a crock of bull. Anyway if you've got anymore so called duds half as good of person & player as TC, send em our way champ!

Iljcesen is signed at Victor too. But does that mean they can't have a crack at the higher level? I guess it would come down to the club's goodwill.

holden78 mades a good point about what was said about Ilj though:

No questios he (Carroll) has been a stand-out player in the bush this year, but when a fringe player in the bottom side on the ladder demands the club pay him big bucks or he's leaving, I applaud the Club for standing firm, and not letting the players dictate like they were known to allow in the past. The Club went from 9th (with him) to 4th this year, so I don't think they'd be loosing too much sleep.

On a positive note I understand Denis Iljecsen (or however you spell it) has put his hand up to come back to the Club for minimum chips. Another gun country player that has never been, and proabably never will be a star at SANFL level, but an honest goer that has a good attitude, and doesn't put demands on the club for unrealistic money.

interesting that he wouldnt go back to glenelg, i know he has a few mates out there already. I spose if sturt are give him a go in league rather than ressies, that would probably sway him.
