Why would the ATCA not cancel today then like in recent seasons, David Hayzer and Co I though are usually pretty good in that regard, so I guess they think some games are a fair chance to get away, thats the problem when its scattered showers I suppose, some places got it worse then others

While I agree there isn't much worse than having to rock up to the ground when you know you aren't going to play, last year I think they called them off too often too early. Several times last season we would have got away had they not called us off. I think this year they are trying to correct that.

As you say, the rainfall today was quite varied across the metropolitan area. Some grounds could get away IMO tomorrow if conditions are favourable tonight and tomorrow (more so those out north), time shall tell I guess.

I think there is nothing wrong with making the call at 10:30 tomorrow morning, rather than pulling the trigger prematurely on the Friday.

whats the thoughts on point allocations for washed out games. Last game we got washed out both weeks as the school we were playing on wouldnt prepare the wicket after friday afternoon. In turn we got 5 points each, all other games got away with most losing teams earning between 4 and 6 bonus points, hardly seems fair.

Agreed, it's far from Ideal, however I think it's better than going too far the other way.
At the moment you have a situation where you are encouraging teams to play where possible. EG: Even if you lose the toss and get put in on a dodgy deck, as worst it might cost you a point, but you could make upto 13 or so more (18ish for the win), than if you choose not to play and take the 5pts each.
Encouraging teams to play cricket is what it should be all about.
It also helps to eliminate some of the dodgy stuff that used to occur by home teams in the final round before finals.

we were the away team and had no chance of getting on. just seems way to low. i think they should look at maybe giving you 8 pts each. I think for a forfeit the winning team gets 16 as they use this as the most likely avge if you win. why not split those points 8 each.

Just put the roller over my pitch, and it looks perfect, exactly how it should....... if it was Thursday!

David won't make the call til 9am, even though playing on some/most wickets today would be very unfair to whoever loses the toss

speaking as a curator its tough to play on soggy decks early in the season.the whole block gets damaged and hard to repair at this time of year, as growing conditions arent quite right yet.

Been told that our deck is no worse then week 1 of last round and better then what we played on round 1 at trinity primary school, So nothing new there, 3rd week in a row with a wet deck, if it isn't called off then we will just be playing on what we are used to lol

There was a heavy shower at about 8 that would've ended any hope for most sides to get on

Hope Valley would have been fine as we had the covers on since Thursday night! All that hard work down the drain
I agree all A grade team should have covers to avoid this from happening!
Applying for grants can help clubs buy covers!
