No chance of that Ron!!!
So are you gracing everyone with your presence on the field this season, or do your Anchorman duties take up too much of your time???

unfort i have koko busting my balls at work so little time for football! lol nah i head over to europe for 2 months in may so may pull on the boots for last few games when get back but will c how feeling than. so u played yet for the bays?

Yeah we've played two trial games, one against Lucindale which we won and one against Kangarilla which we lost. Things are coming along nicely and I think given more time the team will surely gel a bit more.

To be honest how is your coach going? He's a bit fresh mate, not sure that going to work well?

i guess we'll actually have to wait and see when birdwood play their first div1 game. no one really thinks that birdwood are going to do very well this yr but if they were to grab a couple of sneaky wins it could hold them in good stead for the nxt few yrs with some good recruiting. gd luck to them i say, theyve shown the balls a couple of other div2 sides shouldve had.

TBF, you say that onkas will a force this yr but they only beat a middle of the range hills div2 side by 5 or so in their trial didnt they??

GTS and boys, do you think that Kangarilla should have come up instead??
I know its not totally up to each team blah blah blah but you'd think they'd want to have a crack at it sooner than later, especially with the confidence alone the club is building, surely they'd also be in a better position to advance than Birdwood?

The way I understand it is that Kangarilla had/has a plan to go div1 in a couple of years time - they struggle for junior numbers at the moment and U14 & U17 are a requirement to move to div1. I think Birdwood (who have plenty of juniors and are quite competitive at a junior level) may have jumped in early and spoilt their plans! Now it is a 10 team comp in div 1 I can't see anyone else being allowed to move to div1 without the relegation system in place. Perhaps Kangarilla have missed their opportunity?

TWE - I believe the promotion/relegation system is in place now for 2008. If your A grade finish bottom in div1 this year and the premiers from div2 can meet the requirements (all junior grades) and want to play div1 in 2008, bottom place will be dropped to div2.

NOTE: I also believe Birdwood have been guarenteed 3 years in div1 so even if they finish bottom this year or next then no one will be dropped to div2 even if the div2 premiers want to come to div1.

i wonder how the relegation thing would work for blackwood. Having an A grade side in both divisions would make it tricky. I guess if it did happen atleast they would be a sure thing for atleast 2 wins for their club that year

He may not have a choice if he signed with them....... I know Daniele from Kangarilla is going to sit out this year and be the runner for Angaston cause Stringer wont let him back out of his contract. Crazy if you ask me cause I would sure think twice about signing with them if your only way to leave the club i to sit out for a year. No point burning bridges - players talk

Good Point, I can't see them being forced to field a div2 side only :? So for the next three years 2 out of ten clubs are guarenteed not to be relegated?

But aren't Blackwood looking to go to ametuers anyway? Perhaps the HFL have given up on them anyway and are looking forward to seeing the back of them?

What happens with dropping the wooden spooners in the A's if for example, a club say Ironbank, finish top in the B's and their A grade finishes bottom???

u snooze u lose, birdwood were the only one's with the balls to grab the spot while it was there, and i can gaurantee within three years they'l be major contenders, there won't be any going back

Correct, very clear he doesn't want to play at Raggies.
But Raggies I think, put a fair bit into securing the guy and he walked out. I'd be p#ssed off as a club.
Up to him whether he wants to lose a year or not I guess. I don't know him.

I know a lot of people who have done this at Bridgy over the past 4-5 years, we have had a few come over to Mt Lofty to train who couldn't get a clearance and reluctantly ended up back there (Mona and Billsy amongst others). Looks like there policy has changed with Monty(or has it)?
