You really can't be serious.

Congratulations to the others for their contributions. Great to see my mate Robert Laidlaw scoring an award.

Surely the only contenders for the radio awards should be 5RPH and LifeFM. They are there every week FFS. Same goes to ABC for the footy. How could Channel 7 possibly do better than the ABC?

The SANFL always feel the need to suck up to 5AA and love kicking RPH and Life in the teeth.
We, the fans, know that clearly RPH and Life (in no particular order) are the no 1 and 2 coverage for SANFL with daylight 3rd.

Just playing the devil's advocate - the awards aren't for service to the SANFL they are for a body of work, so (apart from any predisposition on the judges' part) it is based on what the judges have before them production wise.

That's no consolation for those who do it week in, week out and are highly respected for their work, I know.

Was nice to catch up with many people last night, including of course some regular SA Footy posters.

Also, massive congrats to West Coast ABC's Emma Pedler for her award - her contribution to community football would be hard to match.

Has this site ever been mentioned at these awards for the "Best Online Coverage"?

I would think the site would get a look in for the award of " Best potential litigation " by the Law Society.

Nah. The Advertiser well and truly has our measure on that one too. ;)

I got an invite once. I think it was for something organised by Phil H in regard to joint finals coverage with Life.
I also got a photo I took in the final one year but that didn't warrant an invite.

It would need to enter the awards to be mentioned.
This site fits the category of online coverage but fitting the judging criteria might be a bit tough, although Wedgie's photos could certainly be entered in the current set up.
He just wouldn't get an invite ;)

Yes, they were the respective winners in those categories.

Congratulations indeed and a shame Rob couldn't be there in person to accept his award but he had knee surgery yesterday. David Shipway accepted the award on Robert's behalf and his acceptance speech was of high quality.

Well done to all the finalists and winners.

You really can't be serious.

You really can't be surprised. This happens every year with regular monotony.

The awards - for these two categories only - can be little more than an exercise in polishing starfish with the tongue, since they clearly have no correlation with factors like airspace, screen time, or calibre of journalism.

Congrats to the winners of the other categories.

Joke for those two awards in particular. I'd like to know what 'body of work' won it for them?

Well done life and rph, the true winners

Wasn't there a third station that would do SANFL years ago? 1323? other than the two above and the odd 5aaaaashit occasion?

5RPH's contribution of over 200 hours of SANFL coverage in 2011 - through match broadcasts, the Thursday Night League Teams Show, and other shows during the week - as well as Life FM's coverage of at least one game every week, and ABC-TV's 90+ hours of SANFL match day coverage, including finals and web streaming, was noted on the night.

Great to catch up with many sound, long serving contributors to SANFL coverage on the night.

I can't really speak for the judges in these awards but given the experiences I've had in other media awards - it's all aout what is in front of the judges at that particular time. I know, personally, that you can write a cracker yarn that garners attention but if the presentation isn't quite right, then the judges can gloss over.
For this award, along with others I've regularly been involved in, you are asked to present three pieces and that is what your efforts are judged upon. Not your overall contribution.
It's a bitter pill to swallow, though, if you've been doing it all year and lose out.
