Where are these players headed PAFC?

I asked this a few pages ago and didn't get an answer... What is the Woods Medal awarded for?

Are you sure it's not for 'Haircut which most resembles a ladies'?

Thank you CK! :D

Was wondering what it was because Pfieffer was a Crow and a Blue during his career, wasn't he?
Wondered if he was any hope of a mature age recruit in these "compromised" times...

To elaborate further, it was first struck in 1988 in honour of John J Woods who was a long serving member of the Norwood Football, serving as Secretary, Coach and player for many years. The award is given to the player deemed to have made the greatest contribution to the club both on and off the field. Justin Scanlon was the inaugural winner having been third in the B&F as well as serving the Board as Players Representative.

Cheers AH... Does this mean Pfeiffer acheived something off the field worthy of comment? It sounds prestigious, and I thought he had a party reputation when he was on the AFL...?

The award simply says just being able to kick and catch a footy isn't enough, you need to work off the field just as hard as you do on it.

Pfeiffer has been a wonderful acquisition to Norwood this season in terms of off-field leadership as well as playing some very handy football. He's one of the many young men in football who couldn't handle the responsibility early on, then mature into their roles. Most are able to do this whereas some never learn.

There's talk of him being a mature age pick up in the AFL draft, ala Lower, Puopolo, Duigan, Phillips, etc. My only comment there is Darren possibly doesn't one grab the footy as often as he would need to at AFL level, but there's no questioning his work rate.

Yes, it was once called Florence Street, but renamed in 1943 (I think) to Woods Street, after J.J.Woods.
