The viewing public at AFL games has changed, people rock up to their setas 5 minutes before the game. If game was played as an actual curtain-raiser with the AFL teams running out straight after the curtain raiser finishes, it would encourage more to have a look. I could maybe put up with the very occasional one if that were the case, but not with the curtain raiser having to finish 45-60 minutes beforehand.

Very good point. The near hour between games earlier this year only proved to be a bonus for bar takings. ;)

No. You need to read the whole thread to see what I was referring too.

Pseudo made comment that Port giving up a home game to play Norwood at Footy Park as a curtain raiser cost us a finals berth. The comment you quote was me saying how many things played a part in Port missing the 5, not just the aforementioned game.

Good luck to you Panther fans. 2 finals in one season must be almost impossible to fathom. ;)

Nope, I claimed it cost Port a win.

Missing the finals is a corollary of the above claim, also depending on the rest of Port's season, being that they finished 1 game out of the finals.

The distinction is subtle but important.

Its interesting the results of the poll so far, it looks actually like last seasons efforts have actually turned more people against the idea. Cheers for that SANFL/AFL.

It was the first time it was tried though. The Norwood game early was the ice breaker and the second one with Sturt, for mine, was bad timing leading into a Sunday twilight game.

Curtain raisers are not the way to go.
Most sanfl fans wont go to them.
sanfl coaches are kicked out of the coaches box hours before the AFL is due to start.
Reserves should always be bofore the league game.

curtin raisers are crap.

play more night games..and utilise saturday night. plaing a game on saturday night as opposed to saturday afternoon would attract 2,000 more people IMO.

Sanfl need to be smarter and stop being paranoid about a supporters getting drunk etc.
