think it was called spartacus. looks like a series that follows a similar storyline to gladiator the movie
will give that a shot!

It's a series that doesn't hold back!
Nudity, sex, language and violence in spades (might be an edited version).

A lot of people didn't like the first couple of episodes, but the quality improves.
Kind of like a low budget cross between '300' and 'Rome'.
A brief prequel is being made and a (delayed due to the star having treatment for cancer) second season of Spartacus will follow.

I've started watching Spartacus, I reckon it's great!
Pommie accented Romans puts me off a bit though!
Makes Underbelly look like a Disney movie when it comes to sex, nudity and gore!

By Jupiter's #$%^ it sure does!
(although the version on FTA is apparently heavily edited).

The 6-part prequel ("Gods of the Arena") has just finished screening and is also very good.
The 2nd season of the original series will follow with a replacement actor for Spartacus.

As of Monday night - Prisoner. 6:00pm on 111 Hits (or 8:00pm on 111 Hits+2)

ACA plug for the show - must say it's fantastic seeing Elspeth Ballantine (aka St Meg Jackson/Morris) at a Prisoner reunion. She very rarely attends any Prisoner function, and rarely likes to talk about the show apparently.

Update on Spartacus:

Andy Whitfield (who played the lead role) has died in Sydney

A prequel series ('Gods of the Arena') was made when he was initally diagnosed, then when it was apparent he wasn't returning, the role was re-cast.

As an aside, the show is cut when on FTA tv, DVD/BD releases aren't.

Never miss "How I met your mother" all 5 characters are unique, Neil Patrick Harris plays an amazing role for his gender preference, Cobie Smulders just has a little something about her that reels me in, I've been waiting for a scandal involving her for a few years now, none yet :(

No, there is another (final) season to come of 16 episodes.
Not sure where it's going to go from here, but the writers have been consistently good with their creativity.

The final episode of S4 with Gus' death would have to go down as one of the greatest 'holy sh1t' moments in TV history

I'll speculate a little and say S5 will see the DEA fully investigate Gus, which leads them to Walt and Jesse.

Am quite surprised as I thought they could have ended there. Although I didn't think the show would have a 'happy' ending.

The last bit with the plant in the backyard might come up, but I doubt it.

Not sure where it will go, apart from the investigation like you mentioned, but glad it has another season.

I like Wednesday night's viewing, the Louis Theroux doco on ABC2 then straight into Sons of Anarchy on One then into Rizzoli & Isles on Gem.
