Now for those that appointed him what has happened to them, let me guess they have gone and done what they did last time and appointed the assistant coach. One really must wonder about the character of the assistant coach if he has accepted the role the day Norman departs. I cant see how he can say he gave Norman his full support.

I really do hope Sturt suck big time next year.

Wow, that means the PAM's have changed their board numerous times in the last 10+ years, not to mention the dire off field dramas. Along with the previous clowns with their fanciful Mickan stories, your post is just as stupid.

I understand a big issue was he had "lost" many of the Senior Players and a few would go if he was to stay on in 2012. I have since found out that the delay in this announcement was due to the SFC trying to secure another ex SANFL coach to take over but that didn't happen so Maloney got the job.

Yes was Mark Mickan however he refused to do to someone else what was done to him and wouldn't talk to them until they had informed Norman that he was gone. Board kept trying but he wouldn't budge. The bloke is full of integrity. Pure class.

Of course it's true, we only made it up just then.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

What the hell is going on out there? The 'Tiser reports this morning that Maloney didn't actually apply nor in some ways want the job, but the board rang him and asked him to do it?

Has there ever been a senior SANFL coach appointed without him having applied for the job?

Despite Cutterman's denials, when Mickan said no, Maloney was talked into the job.

The real reason for poor performance is lack of quality players, replacing the coach won't change a thing.....

When John Cahill took over from Russell Ebert at Port, was he not headhunted specifically for the gig?

Laird didn't apply, the role was thrust* upon him when Clarkson departed.

You may be correct. But how clubs operated in the 1980's is surely different to how they operate now?

If Sturt didnt go with Maloney from within, who was it from outside that would have applied and got the job?

Why?
It's the club's, it's members' and the two coaches business, if club members want to delve deeper or be informed any further regarding any concerns they have they can go to the club, make a phone call or go to the next meeting. The fact that people in forum land want to know or discuss crap is not the clubs issue.
For example, while suprising, I don't really give a crap how Glenelg came to their decision of Massie.
