Been off the bike for a week and a half, the longest time ive been off since March, felt like Ive been off for a month when I went out for a quick spin tonight.

Only had a short hour to get out so took off down Black Road and went up the end of Main Rd to Cherry Gardens across the ridge and down Chandlers Hill Rd which was good fun, down thru H/Valley to the veloway back up to Majors Rd and back to flaggy, nice 70mins bang on 20kms with 320m of Climbing. Real good little work out, reckon that will be my after work/dinner daylight savings ride once the sun is up until past 8pm.

well, the grandslam nearly killed me... i was tossing up whether or not to ride as have not been well the last few days, and the weather was not looking promising, BUT, woke up sunday decided to go,
first 100km was pretty good.
ave 33.6km/h almost spot on 3 hrs.
second 100km not so good.
ave 29.6km/h 3hrs 40min

the first loop was good, nice cool day with no breeze but the wind picked up by the second loop which was a pain...
there was a nice hill at the 60km mark, well not so much a hill but a steady climb for 8km, wasnt to bad, the one that nearly killed me was the climb for 10km at the 160km mark, with the wind in your face... my legs where cramping, everything was hurting. think i pretty much vomited twice in my mouth.. was not feeling the best..

but overall glad i did it, was spewing not to complete all of them as i missed an earlier one, but got 4 out of the 5 done. was a good challenge. now looking forward to Amy's and cyclo sportif (if i find out the details and can get a team), the TDU.. :)

booked myself in for the AMy's and im pretty keen to do that velo ride, will be pretty cool riding up the freeway..
went for a roll today to try and get the legs moving today, surprising felt pretty good, went up norton summit across to mt lofty and down the old freeway to home.. about 50km.

the most enjoyable bit was when a dude pased me on magill rd just passed glynburn rd before heading up the norton climb, only for me to pass him when we got on the actual climb... brought a smile to my face.. :)

havent joined yet, but get the same feeling as you, pretty much all the same, a few of the guys i ride with are members of Pt adelaide, i dont think they ever see or ride with any of the other members they just use it to get their racing license, and compete in club races.

im the opposite i cant see my self ever joining anything port adelaide. :) my time at Sturt FC has taught me to hate Port.. ;)

on another note been riding heaps this week, really stepping it uo a bit with this nice weather.. and used bikemap.net for the first time,
this was a ride i did this afternoon, enjoy the picturesque country side of the hills, and the picturesque girls down the beach.. ;)

http://www.bikemap.net/route/1298653

i got an email back from the lady about the cyclo sportif series, gives us an idea of the times/distances.. they havent finalised the routes for this year yet but said they would be about the same..

Man do the big boys fly when they sprint.. was surprised how they split with the cross winds on the straights.

Looks like fun racing, would like to see the E grade races to see if I'd have any chance after some training...

And on a side note.. pick up the new bike Saturday!!!!!! WOO HOO :D

Well I pressed the button today and signed up for 100km Amy's ride, reckon Im getting pretty close to being ready, going to go down and try WH this weekend so looking forward to that.

Getting the bike serviced on Friday so will be all ready to go. Have done 2600km so probably due.

What bike shop do you guys use? Im working in Mt Barker so have just booked it in at the shop in the main street there, it also happens to be the shop where it was bought by my cousin so maybe they might look after me better.

Good work with the new ride Mickey, have to post a pic!

Im getting it from Cycleworx @ Woodville.

Was the 1st shop i went into and after a bit of looking around seemed to be pretty knowledgeable and helpful, and the 1 who gave the most time to find the best bike for me

Pooh, Bugger, BBSB!!!!

After doing my weekly EOTH ride with a mate at lunchtime, I decided to come home via Old Belair Rd tonight, not knowing the road well I weakened mentally and stopped ~ 400 m from Belair (just near Beverley cr). When I started again and realised how close I was to the top I cursed myself for being so bloody soft.

Off to try and find some bike riding kit in Dark and Light Blue to match my soft attitude....

Planning to ride from Hallet Cove to Pongy on Sunday via Old Willunga Hill as a training session for Amy's Ride in a fortnight.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Pretty gutsy going up OBR, looks too narrow for me to attempt, BR is bad enough.

I used to hate the fact I live at Flaggy cause everywhere around me had hills and it was tough starting out, now Im loving it. I had less than an hour last night before Mrs Dutchy had to go out so went for a quick scamper down Happy Valley Drive, up Chandlers Hill Rd, across the ridge and down Main Rd to Black Rd and home, all in under 50 mins but a fantastic workout.

Might see you on WH on Sunday am!

No good, her indoors b'day lunch planned for the Victory Htl on Sunday my shower and change after my morning ride to Myponga got canned on Friday. So spent Sun am at home trying to build up some "points".

Like Dutchy I've got ~150 km of communting rides this week along with at least two hill rides (EOTH and OBR/BR) so that'll do me for the week.

i hate using this but WTF..... what did you have to get done/replaced for just a service.. thats ridiculous if they didnat have to replace any parts!!! mine is usally $75 (member of and bought my bike from JT's so get about 15% discount i think) for a full service, which includes all the drive train pulled apart cleaned and adjusted, bottom bracket dismantled and cleaned, and all over check, correct torque settings etc.

hey AM, give mt osmond climb ago in your lunch break, start off from the freewat side at the interchnage and head straight UP.. bit shorter than EOTH but a lot harder on the legs. its only 1.8km of hard climbing then fly back down the hill and come out on either portrush or greenhill rd..

looking forward to Amy's in a few weeks hopefully its a nice day weather wise gets a bit windy down south..
