The whole day is a blur for me! Wow!
We started the game where we left off with the Prelim, we attacked the Dogs players the second they took the ball, and bottled things up until we could get a clearance, which seemed to be 4 out of every 5 times. Our stoppage work was brilliant and the key to us being up early.
McKenzie, Raymond and co. were a wall down back, taking umpteen marks at times where they had no claim to. Centrals looked lost in the first half, with most goals coming from pushing and pushing through the defense, since lobbing it on Havelbergs head wasn't working (we did against him in the first half).
Callinan was great at times, but even he had a case of the fumbles, as did a lot of the Dogs players. It was weird to see them dropping the ball with no visible pressure around them, even from a handball. We took the ball out of defense half a dozen times from errors like that.
I don't really remember many times where Centrals hit targets inside 50, apart from dinky little kicks. On the flipside, we pushed in time after time, with Staple and Grocke providing great hands for our running players. We had to really work hard for our goals as well, but when you have Lewis and Tiller hitting goals from outside 50 it helps!
I almost had a heart attack in the last quarter - I never felt safe at all and in the end, there was reason to not to feel safe! So thrilled with the win, especially seeing as we could have easily lost in the dying seconds.
Commiserations to the Centrals team and supporters. No grand final is easy to lose - and I guess from our point of view (our, being every other supporter besides yours) we struggle to feel TOO bad, since you have so many!
