As for the match, Eagles got the jump on us and it was catch up for the rest of the match. I was worried for good reason going into the finals as I felt the Eagles matched up better against us than Norwood.

As for the Dogs, we'll lick our wounds and come back bigger and better next year. The reign as premiers is over but the dynasty isn't over yet!

Well said AK. I was wetting my pants in the last quarter and if my boys had coughed it up after leading all day I would have been gutted beyong belief. But I would have been happy to admit that the Dogs are the best team and proved it by coming from behind

The theme for the day was definately that poor kicking costs matches, was definately true today.
All 3 sides that lost had more scoring shots than their opposition.

Congrats to the Eagles and their supporters. Bad luck to the Doggies, so gallant in defeat, showed in the last quarter why they are so admired/feared/envied etc etc. Lee Spurr had a fantastic last quarter, almost single handedly dragged the Dogs to victory. Not to be though, I didn't see anything to suggest they won't be around the mark next year and should start season 2012 as favourites.

Great game =D>

Sounds like a comment from Roy. I think it was in todays Sunday Mail where he said something like "we have no other talls (to come into the GF side) as they clearly aren't good enough". You only get honesty from Roy...

I don't think so. More like 15000 regulars. Still seriously outnumbered the Eagles (and neutrals) tho.

Well done to the Eagles, deserved to win after being clearly more hungry for 3/4 of the game. Dogs finally switched on in the last but it was far too late. Nearly died when Spurr kicked that point cos I thought was a goal for a second.

Doggies were dreadful though, fumbling all day long, bad umpiring in the first half as well. Evened up in the end I thought though. Eagles ran harder, worked to space better and mostly outnumbered the dogs at the contest.

I don't understand why Paul Thomas did not speak on behalf of the losing side? Normally that is a formality.

Congratulations to the Eagles on a great win today. The win was well deserved too because the Eagles have been the only side to be up there with Central consistently over these 12 years. Two premierships is at least some return for them.
For our boys: well done on an amazing season. To get where you did with the run of injuries we had was truly inspirational. We can go into next season full of confidence.
Was a strange day for me today: scoring for the West Torrens Eagles A Grade cricket team - a strange feeling at the end of the GF when pretty much everyone at Henley Oval was happy bar two or three of us.
Great to unearth another Central supporter amongst the West Torrens cricketers though. Adam Crosthwaite is a Doggie as a result of being one of Chad O'Sullivan's best mates. Was also great to meet Chad's cousin today who dropped into Henley on his way to and from the GF. A great guy, very much like Chad.
Eagles supporters, particularly Aerie, enjoy your very much deserved premiership!
Hopefully the same will now happen as in 2006. The Eagles football premiership was followed up by an Eagles cricket premiership!
Cheers

I heard during the week that "the law of averages" would eventually bring Centrals back to the field. Unfortunately when I looked at the SANFL premiership table i didn't see that particular team name. We needed one of the actual other 8 sides to step up and match them on GF day rather than hoping that statistical averages would automatically do the job. Today the Eagles did it. The last 2 times they have met Centrals in a GF they have won and that is no small feat in the current era. Privately I was wrapped to see the underdog get up but commiserations to Centrals fans all the same. Well done Eagles! 3 flags now since the 1991 merger.

Is that really the last game for the Gowans? I read the related thread on here but wasn't sure if it was definite.

Well done to the Eagles - the better team by far on the day and deserved the win. Hope the sad, loser mentality individuals who call our comp boring were happy today. 2 GF's in a row going down to the absolute wire and a team winning from 3rd after losing a Qualifying Final - Yep, real predictable stuff that

Proud of my team for their never say die attitude, we lost no respect today IMO. Probably had no right to make a GF with the players unavailable but in the end did so on the back of Norwood's poor form late in the year.

How we could have used Obst, Sibenaler, Hardy, Nash & Dutschke today!

Anyway congrats again to the Eags & well done McKenzie and Godden for their post game words.

Well done eagles great comeback from the qualifying final drubbing. Probably the best final since Port beat Norwood in 99. An absolute cliffhanger enjoyed every minute of it. A great advertisement for SANFL footy.

That would probably have to rate as the Eagles' greatest ever victory in their short history (?)
Absolute cracker game. Great to see the SANFL GF turn on a real contest.
Big ticks to the Dogs fans that stayed until the bitter end (cup presentation etc.)
