Can you please explain what risdons are going to fire up about or are you guessing again? From what i'm told there are not many that go to these meetings say much at all.One person reports risdon are not going to attend, i think that is very unlikely.

It was a bit of a tongue in cheek comment as the risdon crew i am told go to the meetings and have no input yet when they walk away they carry on like chicken snitzels and whinge more than the Australian people are about our current prime minister.

Its a pretty sad competition that is dictated by clubs who play where under the proviso they can sell beer from the boot of a car. What a farce. Memorial ovals wicket is a bog and the outfield not much better. Port oval would be one of the best wickets in the the country areas.

i dont think you understand the whole story tbw. memorial oval wicket is no bog i have played there for 35years and the outfield there is nothing wrong with that now that it is getting cut appropriately. the cricket association is the clubs! no one is doubting the port oval is a nice. no one said anything about selling beer from the boot of a car! most small country clubs now days survive on the selling of drinks, sandwiches etc: .and some sort of fundraising. Remember CLUBS are the association and the CLUBS at the end of the day DO run the way cricket runs in there respective communitys. There is such a thing as a voting system so if all clubs think it is a good thing they will vote for it and it will get through if not they will vote against it. Thats the silly thing about people blaming one or two clubs about certain changes and wants etc: because if there is not enough support things wont get through.

Is the fundraising needed to fund Risdon and Warnertowns fantastic contribution to junior cricket in Pirie?

Errr a few years ago who did most of the work in bring back a decent junior cricket competition? Was it Risdon, I think it was.....

Risdon suffered from a problem in the juniors where a lot of players where top age, most of these guys played in the Bgrade premiership last year, 5/6 players under 21 (No other Bgrade apart from Pgermein held that record.

Risdon tried to keep a junior team but a lack of numbers meant those players either joined the Bgrade competition or changed teams. There has been interest in starting a junior side but with a lack of people that know juniors in the age bracket is low...considering most of the Risdon Club are under 23...its not as if a dad of a junior can coach the team.

I am not sure of the current junior system, however I do know Props / Wandies will reap the rewards of having a junior side in the future, something that the clubs such as Warnertown (they are experiencing this now IMO) and maybe Risdon in the future.

So in short, go **** yourself :)

i agree with you squids and it is only getting harder to get juniors to a club when wandies and south port have there tenticles all over the place. And lets face it it is going to get even harder when they have a nice training complex and bowling machines etc: to get kids to play anywhere else. Good luck to them but it may also get harder for them to find sides they can play against if this trend continues. Warnertown is a club where people go to have a good time and have some fun whilst playing cricket, a lot of them are ex A grade cricketers who dont wish to play A grade anymore and wish to play in the morning. Im sure if they have a young lad thats good enough they would suggest to him to go play A grade. Bloody hell risdon have a lot of youngsters at there club.

Meant to be a bit of rain around, which sucks, surely cant be as bad as last year with all the washouts there was.

I think Wednesday night will be when all the transfers happen.....hopefully someone attending the meeting can give a summary.

thats right we dont want rain stuffing things up like last year. Im sure lachlan will have a video link up ready for your boys straight after the meeting and i will do my best to report anything i hear from our man, not sure who we are sending it could be our skills coach sam hunt. transfers are a bit late so i can see some clubs and players missing out on a game for the first couple of games and serves them right i say.makes for an interesting night though so i might even sneak over there for a few scotch on the rocks and see if there is any action.

Well said Squids.

we're just waiting for Cornflour Congdon junior to be old enough to play. Cornflour coaching, junior opening the batting and bowling while also filling out the rest of the positions.

Wait- Junior has got a B grade game under his belt too.
