If Havelberg's hamstring is given the all clear, I don't think there will be.

I'm not sure if Tom Dunne will be risked with no match fitness for the last 3 weeks.

From what i have seen Havelberg is the only injury concern.

Roy Laird said on ABC TV post Prelim that the scans on Havelberg's hammy showed nothing to be concerned about but he did have to get through tranining last night and Wednesday night to be picked to play.

Personally, I think the Dogs will go in unchanged from their 2nd Semi side.

Sorry i meant to write from what i have seen Havelberg ISNT the only injury concern.

The key player will be Treeby
Not for his brilliance but for his vigor
I reckon he is going to ruffle the twins up
Dont be surprised if Treeby gets reported

Sutherland is the CD enforcer
But he will meet his match in that department with Parry
Expecting some fireworks between the 2

Should be a great Grand Final. I think the Eags are one side that match up well against us so am definitely not going in over-confident.
I just pray and hope that somehow our District Cricket match is over by 2:00pm on the Sunday so I can make it to the game. (praying for a washout, but drying up by 3:20pm on Sunday *grins*)
Cheers

What is better preparation?

Centrals week off or the Eagles getting some run in their legs with a win over a super soft Redleg outfit? Would be a different question altogether if Norwood had given anything other than a Glenelg like effort on Sunday.

What an indictment on a club, being compared to Glenelg in finals.

Ill aswer the serious part of the question though by really sitting on the fence here BUT i think the preperation both sides has had is the one that is best for them.

At Central we needed the week off, there is no chance Havelberg would have played last Sunday and a few other players carrying injuries.

Also Central had a few players who were first up against Norwood, the week off has given their body the time to get over soreness which often makes a players second run their hardest.

Also if we had played last Sunday we probably would have ended up with another heap of injuries as the season has gone.

The confidence gained from the Eagles victory over Norwood will do them the world of good.

Eagles also appear to be the 'fresher' team with less injury concerns which is what really worries me and tends to make me think the Eagles might get up.

Sunday's low-scoring meant quarters went 23-25 minutes, probably five minutes shorter than usual = 20 minutes less over the course of the game. Not sure whether this is good or bad for the Eagles - meant they didn't have to really tire the bodies, but at the same time they didn't have to run out quarters in a game that was already less intense than most finals.

Barring a Draw, this should be Treeby's last game in the SANFL.
If we keep the Gowans quiet and the Central fans, it will be an Eagles win.

If we keep Treeby & Cicca quiet and the Eagle fan, it will be a Doggies win.

Sorry - couldn't resist it

In all seriousness I expect the Eagles to take it right up to the Dogs - the current odds on offer are ridiculous and don't reflect how close this game will be IMO.

For what it is worth I reckon the Eags are a better balanced side at the minute & I say that because I think the Dogs to me are one tall forward short when it comes to the crunch - and the one we do have isn't guaranteed to play. If we control the midfield, we get away with it, but if the Eags can get their share of it and pressure our forward line entries, our weakness will be exposed.

I think overall we have much, much more quality. Far more midfield depth, a more attacking backline and a more flexible forward line. We perhaps don't have they key forwards to give an imposing look about our forward setup, but we still kick a lot of goals. My feeling is if we can break even in the rucks, or near enough and keep Cicollella from dominating the clearances our quality should eventually win out. Let's not underestimate how tough the Norwood match was for WWT. Players were coming off being draped in towels to cool off and looked stuffed. I expect us to have the fresher legs come the last quarter as a result. For me, the Eagles need to be 4 goals up at half time to get the win. Anything less or even the dogs leading and I don't see them holding on.

I think the game will be really aggressive with some incidents that will lead to reports.

It is definitely Treeby's last game and potentially the Gowans' last match. All are fiery characters so assuming it is their last game then I am not sure they will care too much about getting reported. I in the GF west made a few years ago their big CHB (sam jones?) was playing his last match and went beserk and hit someone and was reported. Not sure if he was sent off then but was that the beginning of the send off rule?

I think Parry and Sutherland will also have to watch it as both have short fuses. Parry in particular has been looking likely to snap in recent weeks and I don't think he'll care getting suspended for next season if it causes us to win on the weekend. If he does get reported though with his record he'd be looking at 5 weeks at least.

The odds quoted by JT are ridiculous. I thikn the game is going to be a lot closer than most people realise. On paper Centrals team is not any better than the eagles. They just approach the game better and bring a mental edge that many other teams haven't been able to match. If the eagles are switched on from the first bounce they have an extremely good chance of winning.

I'd like to see a Gowans in a fight , no hitting anyone from behind or stuff like that . Would be interesting I think.
