Is it such a great job by Collins?

Well done on him winning a flag but all he really did was take probably the strongest list of players to a flag over a side with injury worries

You have changed your tune biffboy. All year you had the best side!
Now Imps had the strongest list ?

Haha really Biffboy your going to go down the old injury path now are you? That is the most pathetic excuse you could possibly come up with. Only 2 weeks ago or so after Mr Willy said if Imps play their best the Chickens wouldn't get near them. To that you responded with a few things if i am not mistaken like Imps have fallen over the line and also that Imps wouldn't get near the Chickens on grand final day. Make up your mind. And most Rambler supporters on hear have also said that Ramblers have the best team this year by far. Imps had their own worries with injuries leading up to the grand final also. So to pull the old injury excuse just isn't going to cut it for me at all. Plain and simply just not good enough on the day is what it was end of story.

I can't remember anyone in the paper or even on this site tipping Imps to win the flag it was all Ramblers or Mannum. So on that note Collins sure does deserve to be coach of the year in my eye's after no one except Imps supporters even give them a chance to win it.

I'm talking overall including reserves etc.

Both teams probably have equally as good a-grade lists when fully fit, Imps have better depth. I just dont see the massive deal about the coach as i'm pretty sure I could have coached that team to a flag when they were at full strength.

And i'm not trying to take credit away from the imps players, just to good on the day

Maybe you should of put your hand up for the job then when it was on offer if it was going to be that simple. Maybe it didn't have anything to do with the hard work and game plan then just plain and simply a good list is what won them the flag.

No ones made a big deal of the coach , however credit where its due.
Merrit gone from a B grader to playing every game in the a's.
5 under 17s playing A grade and holding his nerve to play 2 of them GF day.
Hines and Puatti previously pidgeon holed B graders.
Redden given a chance to step up in the midfield.
Jordan Hollit given a key role in defence.
Having the guts to leave a lad out who had played 12 games straight.
Just generally a fresh start for some players.
It will be harder next year though.

Some observations:
- both clubs rely on a core of key players (in particular Ladhams for Jervois and Wark for Tailem), however both clubs have much improved depth compared to last season
- Owen Love would be one of the longest kicks of the footy I've seen in country football- Jervois' first quarter, particularly their inaccuracy, probably cost them the game.
- Tailem's attack was impressive to kick over 20 goals, however it was their defence that impressed me.
- the umpires - well I'll be diplomatic and won't comment on the umpiring.

There is a video on YouTube from last years Aboiriginal Carnival. Owen, playing for Raukkan, kicked a goal from near the centre circle at Imps towards the freeway end - must've been a 70m+ kick.... Absolute booming kick.

I only caught it half way into the clip, but I think this was the clip on Almost Footy Legends tonight.

Won $20,000 last night for Clyde Rigney for sending it in, nice :)

Matt Connelly?

Would Matt Connolly have coaching aspirations?

Who else owns a business in Mannum these days? Dean Mobbs? "Chuck" Berry?

Will be interesting to see what happens with the points allocation for the 2012 season.

I wonder whether there will be a push to give the 2 MB clubs perhaps 8 or 9 points each, and then maybe every other club starting at 12 points, then increasing by 1, for clubs down the 2011 premiership order.

Maybe something like..??
Imps 8
Ramblers 9
Jervois 12
Mannum 13
Tailem 14
Mypo 15
Meningie 16

Doesn't the point system work off the minor year ladder - Jervois will have more points than Mannum & Tailem?
Agree with your points though - I still reckon the outer clubs should get 2 more players than the MB clubs. Would make the comp very even.

Actually I think you're right there, it is minor round, although I have a feeling Jervois finished 4th and Tailem 5th at end of minor round so if thats the case Tailem would presumably get more points than Jervois.

Unsure how true this is but a rumour going around is that Clyde Rigney to coach Meninge next year and take the Love brothers with him.

Also, Ramblers have there presentation dinner this Sat night so I wouldnt be surprised if there are a few retirements announced

I think you will find Tailem will be quite relieved if the Love boys move on. While they have been excellent contributors I believe Tailem are wanting to add a couple of quality long term prospects that can only occur if they lose some current points players.

Really??? Quality, Ray will win their goalkicking by only playing 6 weeks at full forward and owen kicks the ball better than 90% of the league, im sure thats quality enough. I suggest you stick to Imps and not air such rubbish about Tailem, particularly unfounded rubbish

I would not have written it if it was unfounded. The information can from a person involved with recruiting at Tailem. There is concern about how long the Love boys will commit for. Nothing to do with their level of performance. Personally I would like to see them stay and continue to rebuild a great football club.

IMO if these boys did a bit more work on there fitness, they would be as damaging as any players getting around in this league, if they arent already.
And to say that they want to move them on to recruit more long term prospects? Play another season and they are already down a point and who's to say the new recruits will stay any longer?
Surely they would try keep them for atleast another year

On another note, Tony Fielke to coach Nairne next year. Be interesting to see if he tries to take any players with him.
