Must frustrate some that Numpty, Numpty won't be sitting on the wall grand final day.
Rather he'll be helping the opposition to have a great fall.

Regardless of how much fun it is to talk about conspiracies, the tribunal and the umpires aren't there to rub blokes out just to make an interesting story or even up the contest. The tribunal will make the decision they think is right. If they think he did something deserving of a suspension then they'll give him one. If they decide he didn't do anything to warrant it, they'll let him off with either a reprimand or will find him not guilty. One thing is certain, we will be fighting this one tooth and nail.

I wasn't assuming a conspiracy theory. I'm not one of those supporters. But if it's umpire v player, they may not take into account the perceived intentions of the opposition player as the umpire might not have recognised that fact. You'd assume if he had, the report wouldn't have been made in the first place.

No.

Why not?

Because he is not going to be needed and he has a wonky knee. He was always only ever insurance for injury and Damian Hynes showed a few weeks ago that he can step up to League level if need be.

Kind of reminds me of the 2006 second semi, both the game and reaction of supporters.

Norwood need to find something slightly different to beat Centrals. Centrals pace in the backlines yesterday was impressive. Brady Dawe seems to have lost form, and don't think they can play both Rowe and Dawe in their current form.
Still believe the premiership is wide open, especially if Havelburg doesn't come up and Sutherland is suspended. It so, luck may be running the Eagles way, as our side was better balanced yesterday, although not as good opposition.

Also, can't believe Norwood supporters agree with that deliberate out-of-bounds. That was one of the worst decisions I have seen compared to so much that goes unpaid IMO.

Really? Centrals totally dominated that game in the first half, one of the best first halves of finals footy we've played in recent years and the game was iced before the teams ran out for the second half. Yesterday the game was alive into the early stages of the last quarter and we left plenty of chances out there. I think you probably don't remember the 2006 second semi too well.

Guess I was referring more to the fact that Centrals didn't have a heap of scoring shots yet still won comfortably despite their opponents playing ordinary footy, as opposed to other recent years where I thought Norwood, Glenelg and North played close to their abilities in the 2nd semis. Perhaps because of that, the fans reaction seems to have been the premiership is a foregone conclusion, as opposed to 2007-2010.

No dogs fans thought 2006 was a foregone conclusion. Not that we do now, but the general feeling was 2006 was a bonus GF and a chance to pinch one we shouldn't have been in. I think we've learnt over the years that winning isn't easy and we want to make sure if we're beaten we're beaten without regret. So whatever opponent turns up, we will need to make sure we're focussed on the job at hand and put in the effort and concentration we've managed so well throughout the year. This isn't the time to get complacent, not without a second chance. For some this might be their only shot at a flag. For others their last.

Grahaml, you beat me to it.

2006 was the year of the Eagle. They were the best team and we were rebuilding. The fact that we made it to the GF meant that we overacheived due to superb coaching and a gutsy player group.

2011 is not a foregone conclusion. The team now has been significantly weakened from the team I was envisioning six months ago due to a terrible season of injuries. If we win this year it will be another page to a remarkable book due to the adversity that we have had to overcome.

Not the Dogs supporters, but Legs and Eagles in those respective years and the footy public in general.

Seriously? I was confident going in to the GF in '06 - why wouldn't you be? Looking back, we did well to get there but having got there we probably should have played better than we did. Still shitty over it.

This year? The same. We're there and have a better chance than our opposition of winning. I'll be shitty for years if we don't win it.

Agree. Central have overachieved at this stage IMO given their injuries. Has been a magnificent effort to get to where they are this season. Would be no surprise to me if they don't win the Grand Final. If they win this one it will be one of their best.

The one I'm still shitty about is 02. We allowed Sturt to get the jump on us and couldn't get back in the game. A serious footy lesson for us. Probably one of the reasons why we have performed so well since.

I want to win this year so we have 5 in a row. Serious bragging rights there :D

And of all the years we've played, 2006 was the year going into the GF I was least confident about. Even this year I am more confident we can win it than at the corresponding time that year.

I blame Clarko for that one. Steered the team away from the club plan to achieve some personal glory with number of wins in a season - we were never so underprepared going in to a GF (in the 2000 onwards era) than we were with that one. Sturt just took advantage of it superbly.

Losing Damian Hicks early in that game didn't help the cause either - bloody Barnaby French is a thug ;)

This is my take on all our Grand Finals...

Should not and did not win: 1995
Should not but did win: 2000
Should have but did not win: 1996, 2002, 2006
Should have and did win: 2001, 2003, 2004, 2007
Should not but did win (gifted by opposition teams in the finals or GF): 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010

I'd disagree with 2010. You guys were clearly the best side for the year, perhaps lucky to hang on in the GF. Agree with 2009 though, Glenelg should have had that one in the bag!

With injuries etc you have had this year, I think if you pull this one off, it will be up there with the best of them.
