I am sure all the CDFC supporters would think that would be a jolly smashing idea as well! - If todays match were played at the Ponderosa Norwood would have been lucky to be within 100pts.

OK I'll bite. Why?

Home ground advantage? Sheer number ratio of CDFC supporters barracking their side on perhaps? Norwoods record at Elizabeth leaves much to be desired, how many years was it that they could not buy a win at Elizabeth irrespective of their postions on the ladder?

I apologise for being flippant, yet if people want to see the end of the dominance of the CDFC, giving them home finals is a really really bad idea!

Wouldn't matter. They are as good at AAMI (if not better...) than they are at Elizabeth. If it were at Norwood Oval (not that we'd get a home finals vs them), then you'd possibly see different results/margins, but not in this case IMO.

Yeah but they won by 40 anyway, take the game to Elizabeth and they'd still win, perhaps by a little but more, but not much. The dimensions of their home and AAMI are that similar that the results wouldn't be much different, maybe a little bit more with their extra crowd support.

Time to move it back to AO though, seriously.

As a (dis)interested footy supporter, I went last week and yesterday. Clearly if the SANFL hierarchy aren't interested in the spectacle, why should I be.

Don't think I'll bother next week.

Need to move finals to Saturdays, I'd never go to a final not involving North on a Sunday but I'd go to any final on a Saturday (excluding AFL GF day when the SANFL Prelim should be the night before).
Grand Final for eg I'd be there in a flash if it was on a Saturday this year, nothing else to do. But its on a Sunday so I'll stay home and watch Rugby instead.

A move to Saturday would be a disaster for SANFL finals. Are you sure you are a North supporter Wedgie ? You seem more interested in the stop and start boring Rugby game .

What's wrong with playing footy on Saturday? Gives you time to get over the Sunday hangover! And to get the chimney painted!

Yes, bigger crowds would be a disaster for the SANFL.
If they had them all on Saturdays except for the Prelim which they play on a Friday night I can guarantee more than 10,000 than they'd get going for the all Sunday fixture and even that is being very conservative.

What proof do you have that Saturday crowds would be bigger then Sunday crowds?

How can you guarantee that , not only do they compete with AFL finals but also local league finals .

I think we had finals on Saturdays years back ( with the Crows in AFL) and they moved them for this reason.

I don't know how you can guarantee it but I think the SANFL would be interested.

There's only been one Saturday final that would have clashed with SANFL finals in the last 2 years and I think the extra people that would go on a Saturday would have offset the few that wouldn't go becasue of that game easily. Most AFL finals that clash with SANFL finals are played at night.
Prelim final alone would get 5k more on a Friday night before AFL GF than it would on a Sunday arvo after AFL GF.
Most AFL Semi and Prelim finals are played at night time so there is no need to compete with AFL finals like you suggested most of the time.

Fair enough with the AFL clash but I don't think more would attend on a Saturday .

Why not try it . The thing that gets crowds are the teams particpating . Having finals played at Footy Park is not a good look for the comp and AO will now be the same.

Don't forget public transport really really really sucks on a Sunday too, Saturday its OK. Lots of disadvantaged people or people that like to drink who don't go currently.
Would take me about 3 weeks to get to Footy Park by public transport and 4 weeks to get home.
The major issue as to Saturday/Friday finals v Sunday finals is the ABC I think but IMHO there's no reason they can't just do what they do most of the year and broadcast on a Saturday arvo.
Imagine how many less people would go to the GF this year as its on a Sunday with no public holiday the day after as opposed to if it was on Saturday with a day's rest before the working week.
Common sense.
And if one year it does clash with a Crows final then whoopdey doo, you might lose a couple of thousand but you'd be tens of thousands in front from the normal years.
