The system has to change. A silly report mayb well have cost a bloke a Magarey. Granted, plenty of other things might be different, he might have got 1 or 0 votes anyway and it's not the #1 aim of any footballer. But why have the award at all if you're going to compromise the integrity of it?

When did this happen ?
CENTRAL District captain Paul Thomas has called for a review of the Magarey Medal voting system.
He has called for the changes after potentially being robbed of his second medal on Tuesday because of an overturned report.
"If I was completely taken off the table because of a report that was thrown out at nine o'clock Monday morning, the umpiring fraternity needs to go back and say `our job is to pick the best player, the tribunal is there to decide who is the fairest'," Thomas said.
"But I'm playing for a chance to play in a Grand Final today with 20 of my best mates and Jimmy Allan isn't."

Thomas comes across pretty poorly in the article:CENTRAL District captain Paul Thomas has called for a review of the Magarey Medal voting system.

Given Thomas has already won the medal, you'd think he'd have been a little less concerned about the issue, especially at this stage of CDs season, and perhaps a little more gracious in defeat to a worthy winner. Of course he may well have been 'encouraged' in his statements, and as a side note, I actually agree with the point Grahaml, Jai and Paul are making. Doesn't change the fact Thomas comes across as a sore loser and a bit of a sulk.

It is clear that despite the media fuss and in principle I agree with the intent of the story and could understand Thomas feeling frustrated with the Umpires admission however his quote really just sums up the importance he places on medals vs playing in GF's and Premierships which James Allan has also stated is far more important after each of his wins. There was no disrespect meant from Thomas he was just being honest!
