2011 AFL Grand Final- Collingwood vs Geelong

Postby valleys07 » Sat Sep 24, 2011 6:45 pm

So, what are y'all doing next weekend?

Its finally here....the week we all love as afl fans, GRAND FINAL WEEK!!!

The 2 best sides of 2011 rightfully get to play off for footballs biggest prize. Will Collingwood do what port, sydney, west coast, geelong and hawthorn have all been unable to do since the mighty brisbane outfit of 2002 and go back to back, or will the geelong steam train take upon the hawthorn mantra of the late 80's/early 90's and be too old, too slow....???

Questions will be raised of the fitness of Ben Reid and Darren Jolly for the pies, whilst Stevie J faces a tense 6 days to prove his fitness for the catters.

It all starts on monday night to crown the brownlow medallist for 2011, and throw in main training sessions for the fans, the parade, pre game breakfasts, entertainment and finally the big dance!

To the lucky fans who will be scrambling to be one of 100,000 lucky enough to go, I would love to be in your shoes! for me....its all about the beers and the bbq as i watch the 2 best sides battle for the crown.

I love grand final week!

Jolly definitely won't play, which exposes Wood to the might of Ottens.

I reckon the Pies will roll the dice on Reid and the Cats will do the same with Stevie J.

can't see the Cats dropping this one. Their form is awesome, Collingwood are scrapping and getting over the line like a good side does, but their injuries might just cost them the two in a row they hope for.

I have my last Saturday Morning off of work until Christmas, which is coincidentally my first AFL Grand Final off (bar the second effort last year) since 2005.
So I will be camped in front of my TV from waking up, until I have sat through enough pre-game amping entertainment.

Then I will be going to one of three shows (only one is unlikely as there is a Collingwood diehard there)...

I will be knocking off a large amount of pale ale, and watching the Cats be "too old and too slow" as they win their third flag in 5 years.

Gee, that costs extra doesn't it???
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

We had a Bucks show for a GF, 2004, the result spoiled the mood somewhat...

Apart from SJ the Cats had an nice hit out today which wouldnt have taken much out of them. Collingwood havent played a decent game for a month, can see the Cats running away with this and will be the end of an era for them.

I'll be in Loxton, the rest I have to work out.
Might just watch it by myself and knock back a few Pales.

Be heading the the Broadview Footy Club for a Grand Final show, although the Woods have struggled in recent weeks I think this will be a classic, however I think that the Catters may just get over the line

Normanville for a boys weekend.
Golf at Lady Bay on Friday, then a long session on staurday.
Geez, I hope the Cats can pull this one off, but I never make brash or hasty decisions.

Cats by 5 points, Ottens kicks winning goal, Chapman Norm Smith, Wojo first goal, Malthouse cries (again)...........

Heading over to Melbourne for a house warming Grand Final BBQ.

Ironically the house our friends bought used to belong to the Richmond CEO and he put in goal posts when he did the garden

Look to the left of the pic. Even has the 50 mtr arc marked out

Gonna be a good weekend. Carn the Cats.

Can't wait for next Saturday, I'll probably do what I've done the past few grand finals, sit in my room, on the edge of my seat and study, analyse and critique every move, disposal and goal of the game. My pick is Collingwood, I'm a massive fan of the way they play and I would love to see them go back to back, also I love watching Geelong lose. :) Go the Black and White.

Cheers mate, this will be my 7th VFL/AFL Granny .. Ironically 3 of the 6 Ive been to have seen Collingwood beaten, but at the moment Im leaning towards the Pies breaking that hoodoo next weekend.

As a neutral supporter this was the matchup I was hoping for, so hopefully it delivers - Im finding it hard to see how it could be a blow out either way to be honest, but as we all know there's been plenty of GF's that end up one sided

I am looking forward to the game it clashes with the Ceduna Oysterfest which I am involved so hope to get away to watch some of the game at least. I am tipping the Pies based on the Prelim was a huge wake up call and some of their players will be much better for the run, but wouldn't surprise me if the Cats won either.

It is a dream of mine to go to an AFL GF, got to ANZAC day this year, will have to spend the money one of these years.
