i had a mate that brought on of those nets, quite a funny thing happened, he was known to spray the ball around a golf course, when one arvo he was out the back yard having a few hits so he pulled out his driver and sprayed one, missed the net and the ball end up banging and clanging around about 5 or 6 yards down the street. so he quickly packed up the net and it hasnt move from out of his shed since, that was 9 years ago :)

I dont mind those nets but while you can feel if you made good contact you can never actually see how the ball travelled etc.

My biggest issue with golf is my accuracy, I hit them OK but cant hit them straight. A net like that wouldnt help me I dont reckon, but would be good to warm up before a round coming up when your time poor.

I was thinking the same. It is great for a warm up as you said but, I also use it to feel how my swing is going. If I can get my rhythm going good here I can then go to the driving range and check out my ball flight with my coach and work on things from there.

yeah those nets would be a good loosener, because i can make reasonable contact and ball goes sharp right

but SD, when you get into comp golf, a warm up in the net in the backyard, before heading to the course and possibly a further warm up in the nets on course should help get that handicap down....

and also a good stress reliever!!!

Any ovals around that you can use?
I try to get out once a week and hit about 50-60 balls with a pitching wedge.
I go out at lunch time to Ridley Rd Elizabeth.
It has helped my game.

Got out for a hit yesterday. Weather was good, got showered on a few times but not bad enough it was uncomfortable.

The worst part of the day was the 2 groups in front of us both in carts. 1st group was a group of 4 and every 2nd hole they were spending 5 minutes each looking for a ball. The group in front of us was a group of 2 and we ended up calling them the zig zag twins (I think the name is self explanatory).

Anyway, I played Thaxies (For some reason I really like the course. As mentioned before), the fairways are in very nice condition with the rain we have had this winter and even the rough wasn't that bad to hit out of. Thankfully!

All day from the tee I was hitting the ball great but, as per usual as soon as I get to the green my game goes to 5hite! I had 2 1 putts for the day. The rest were either 2 or 3 putts :( If I can get my putting going I should be able to knock at least 10 - 12 shots off my score each round.

It was just really good to get out on the course, having not been out since the end of June.

That was the tentative date, wasn't sure if anything more concrete had been settled, such as price tee times etc..

Which hole was it?
Surely it wouldn't have been the 3rd, that would be impossible with the slope on that green.
Used to play it all the time after Gawler dogs on a Tuesday arvo, was good stress relief after a bad day on the punt although that damn creek has swallowed a few golf balls of mine.

Played South Lakes on Sunday. Course in great nick- greens obviously cored about 3-4 weeks ago, but give em a couple of weeks and they will be top notch. Worth a drive on a Sunday, there are bugger all people playing! We got round in 3 1/2 hours! (Group of 3)
