Good ride Dutchy. Proud of myself after my efforts yesterday. Did the 4k ride to baseball training yesterday, trained for 1.5 hours and then did a big loop around Outer Harbour home and covered another 17k's on that part of the journey.

Was completely stuffed when I got home and the last 3k's were at snails pace through the back of the Port, but I did it nonetheless. Keen to get back on the bike again tonight now.

Nice one Boon.

Yes I wanted to do a flat ride, but the climb back up to flaggy at the end of 60kms was good prep for Willunga Hill in 6 weeks time.

One fo the best things about a good long ride, is you get the best nights sleep that night!

Added an extra 5 kms to my ride home tonight by going up Old Belair rd then down Shepherds Hill rd on to South rd then up the Veloway to Hallett Cove. 16 mins from Springbank rd lights to the top of Old belair Rd. Happy with that. Regular ride tomorrow with a mate tomorrow up to the old EOTH Pub. Liking the new Avanti Giro.

Nah mainly white with black and blue detailing/stripes. I'm thinking mine was a 2010 model given the amount of "sale" discount on it (~40%).

Nice one am, was it Old Belair Rd or Belair Rd you went up? OBR is pretty tight to ride up, BR not much better but a bit more room.

When I bought my bike it came with Candy pedals like below, which it seems are mainly for MTB's and I havent seen many road bikes with them, anyone know much about them? Im wondering if I shoudl swap them over or not and cant seem to find much info about them

What does the cleat look like dutchy? Found out that the pedals I had on my old road home 7 years ago where actually mountain bike ones... the road pedals give more stability and less sideways movement of your foot... according to Mr bike shop.

Shimano pedals for my new bike were about $70 and the come with the cleats..

Think these are the ones, yes they give a bit more, which is probably good for me with dodgy knees, will ask the bike shop when I get it serviced soon for their opinion.

They look the same shape as my old ones. I never had a problem riding with them, will be interesting when I get the new bike to see what the difference is when riding.

Has anyone participated in the cyclosportif series.

It's a timed team event, pretty much the same as a team time trial in the tour de France...

Was looking at loop 1 but now have a commitment at the SANFL GF so cant do it.

Training for Amy's ATM, did 50km on Sunday down the veloway, looking at having a crack at Willunga Hill sometime in October as a warm up.

Yeah its ran in Adelaide. There are 8 rounds.

Round 1 is 20 November @ williamstown
R 2: 11 Dec
R 3: 29 Jan
R 4: 12 Feb
R 5: 11 Mar
R 6: 25 Mar
R 7: 15 Apr
R 8: 29 Apr at the range ... wherever that is.

There are 3 grades, A,B,C.
A and b are mainly for the racers and fast blokes...
C grade is for people new to racing, or been off the bike for a while... like me!

Teams of 9 max and 4 minimum for c grade.

Here is the link...

http://www.sa.cycling.org.au/default.asp?Page=34297

wonder if we could attempt a SA Footy team.

thats sweet... im doing it... i like the team idea, prefer to ride with a team than individual, gets quite tiring out there by your self...
i may be looking for a few extra riders to join our team when we enter, we currently have 3 definates, and have asked another 3 so we could always add in more...

any idea how far the distances are, i couldnt find it anywhere on the website

Not sure of the distance.. what grade are you looking at entering??

Could only find out that a grade may do more laps than b grade. And a+b grade will do more laps than c grade.

Let us know the distance when you find out, wouldn't mind joining in a c grade team, not going to be the fastest bloke going around, but would love to get the feel of racing.
