Sri Lanka v Australia 3rd Test

Postby brod » Tue Sep 13, 2011 10:39 pm

Ajantha Mendis will play no part in the Test series against Australia, having been ruled out of the final match in Colombo because of a back complaint, Sri Lanka's captain, Tillakaratne Dilshan, has said. However, left-arm spinner Rangana Herath is on course to recover from a knock to his spinning finger and play at the SSC Ground.

A 1-1 series result would also keep Sri Lanka in fourth place in the ICC rankings, above Australia.

I heard on "The Back Page" tonight that Ryan Harris was going to be rested due to cartlidge issues. Does anyone have any mail on this? I hope its wrong as i dont think we will take 20 wickets with out him :( The other thing they discussed was the possibilitie of slipping Punter back in at number 6 and leaving SOS at 3  . Hughes gets another chance and Uzi gets the chop :axe:

Siddle in. Is he in form on this tour? Or even previous tours other than the Ashes?

Pattison was the other option on tour right? I think sidle is the right choice, he will go ok.

Losing Harris is a blow, ESP for him.

Tough on khawaja. He hasn't done anything wrong. Hughes gets one more chance but I would like to see Hughes out and khawaja to open with watto.

Marsh took his chance and deserves to stay, but I feel for kawaja

Hey diddle diddle,
The selectors picked Siddle,
The fans are not over the moon.
They also dropped Usman,
To see Geoff's son
Harris' injuries may end his career soon.

Very disappointing for Usman, I would consider Hughes very fortunate, and hopefully he grabs his chance... Could be his last if he fluffs it again.
Unfortunate for Harris, who has been quite consistent (surprisingly), and yet another injury just isn't good for him...

Australia's captain Michael Clarke believes Peter Siddle can overturn his habit of bowling short, built up during his four years in international cricket, and revert to the fuller length he needs to be a dangerous fast bowler against Sri Lanka in the third Test in Colombo.

All of our bowlers have been working on their length since they've been here," Clarke said. "That's something that Craig McDermott [Australia's bowling coach] has certainly made very clear - with the new ball we needed to be bowling fuller, we needed to be giving ourselves a chance, and Sidds [Siddle] has done that.

"I've watched him bowl at every net session he's had and he's definitely improved his length. I think there were a few reasons why he didn't perform how he would have liked in the practice game [Siddle went wicketless].
