Some comments definitely go overboard, but in the end if they enjoy themselves, they aren't doing anything that other fans don't reciprocate regularly.

It does balance out the way North fans go over the top though. He will no doubt win another Magarey but no way has he been the best player in any of those years. Just nobody else at North seems able to win the ball and subsequently votes. North would be a much better team with more ball winners forcing Allan to get 5-10 less touches a game.

The 200 club is made up of ex league players who payer 200 league games. They vote for the R O Shearman medal. Allan has won it the last 4 years an will win it again this year. I thinkthat blokes who played 200 league games no a little bit more about the gam than the cretins who continually knock Allan. He amost single handedlygot North over the line today. It is a shame that the North hierarchy doesn't recruit well enough to give him the support he so despraely needs.

Grahaml - you think following Centrals with their recent success you would be abit more humble and stick to commenting about your players! Your comment about Allan is insulting and almost ignorant and I know from reading your posts over the years you are smarter than that.

I'll never understand why sticking the boots into James Allan seems fashionable at times. His influence on contests is very difficult to ignore and any thought that, should he win on September 20, that he is not a deserving triple Medallist, is difficult to fathom. I know that the school of thought of Medals won after 1990 are somehow less valuable, prevails at times, but a player can only play well in the era he is part of. Allan has had another excellent season and if he wins it, would be richly deserved.

Grahaml wrote:For a game that really meant nothing to the dogs it was a fascinating game. At 1/4 time it looked a similar reult to the reserves was a chance bar some terrible finishing. North seemed to get hardly any ball in the second yet capitalised on every chance to really be in it. The third quarter was fairly even and I thought a 3 goal lead, even into the wind, would probably be enough. Then we wrapped Havelberg in cotton wool, our forward structure went to crap and North really got plenty of the ball. At one stage they looked like running away with it, but the dogs got control of the play again but with North in front needed to score but couldn't find a good option up forward. Then all of a sudden the ball pops to Callinan who runs into an open goal and finishes the game.

Turns out neither side were going to gain or lose much from the result. North couldn't get past South with a win to make the 5 and the dogs had locked top spot. However, the report of Sutherland and the injury to Dunne are clearly the issues out of this game. From my vantage point 100 metres away I thought Sutherland got into the side of the shoulder. If that's the case, he should be ok. If he got him in the head he'll get a suspension. 1 or 2 weeks, depends on the points, carry over, discounts etc etc etc. If he gets suspended, we have no obvious option. This could be massive. 2 weeks could be all the dogs have left this year, so a 2 week suspension could be year over for Sutherland. Milne wasn't in great form anyway but he's done a shoulder and I think had been iced for the season. Hardy has rucked before but with no Sibenaler, Hardy is the only big strong defender we have to match up Bown and Grocke. I doubt Roy will want to expose a Templeton, Hayes or Reichert to a matchup with the bigger Norwood or WWT forwards. This leaves the very real possibility the dogs might call up a debut ruckman for the second semi and potentially a grand final. Bottin-Noonan and Claughton have looked solid enough from what I've seen but it's always risky. Roy might even go the rabbit/hat option and go with 1 recognised ruck. Use Hardy, Hayes and Havelberg to give Hannath a breather but start to cater for losing rucks.

AHA! You forget, Schell has a fairly good leap too!

Devaluing Jimmy's medals is akin to devaluing premierships after 1990

jimmy was taking his umpteenth mark all by himself in the middle of the ground, and this central supporter said thatd be right allan another hard ball get. i said oy dickhead, the guy who is supposed to be tagging him and making it a hard ball get is (i pointed to him) hands on hips absolutely stuffed. 5 minutes later i turned around and hed taken off after being there since the 1st quarter of the reserves  obviously facts got in the way of his pointless jibe at a champion of our competition.

i thought that report on the big fella was absolute rubbish. the north player dove over the ball while the number 30 was already hunting for the ball. should be thrown out.

Agree Ian it does not devalue at all Jimmy A with 44 touches BOG who was tagging him ??? although he is not a hard ball player he still gets in a position to get the ball does the job week after week so he will win another Magarey with Thomas runner up !

By the looks of the scores in the ressies, half of Centrals ressies could have spent the entire game on the bench. Terrible result for North's ressies considering they were playing for a finals spot and it fielded a team with alot of expeirence.

I got there at the 10 minute mark and didn't see him around at all, so I suspect he left early again. I was a little surprised, I thought he might have had a run around since he had no game to head off to. Either way, he's now qualified and will have no more country commitments after this weekend.

yeah thought he may have had a run around as well, but i guess he may have been worried about injuring himself before his GF next weekend.

personally i think Sutherland may get a game so imho that would mean Hardy to become second ruckmen and then down to Hynes or Schell as to who comes into the league side for the second semi.

I never said he wasn't a very good player, just he's not the best in the comp. I understand he gets a lot of mentions in best players, which is fair enough, but that's largely due to no other midfielders for North being capable of winning much ball. As for who was manning him, I think you'll find we probably didn't go down the hard tag path.

I'd love to one day see him play forward of the ball more, I think he'd be a better player if he did that and didn't need to be the one bringing the ball from half back all the time.

No Sibenaler, moving Hardy would leave them a bit light down back I think. If we play the Eagles then I think Hardy will have to play on Grocke. Maybe we can get away with it against Norwood. Wouldn't mind seeing a replay of Sutherland's incident to see where he got him.

If Sutherland does get a game who would you bring in considering Milne is still out injured and wasnt in great form before the injury either.

The young ruckmen in the ressies whose names escapes me wears number 58 has been playing pretty well but would be a massive ask to debut in a second semi against either Parry or Doyle.

Matthew Claughton is the number 58 young ruckman, still attends Trinity College I believe.

I'm worried Sutherland is gone, maybe for 2. Remember, when asked on TV in round 1 on TV, the President of the League stated he wanted anyone but Centrals to win the Grand Final. [-X
