Ones at Norwood were crap today for both sides. Campbell's report was a disgrace and some of their decisions were apalling.
A head high tackle in the centre of the ground was missed by the umpire 1m away but the umpire in the goal sqaure 60m away saw it and paid it :?

No, the ones who were at Noarlunga on June 4, especially the umpire who pinged Grima for holding it in, when he didn't have it at all at the 32 min mark of the last qtr 25 m out directly in front of Souths goal. That isn't paid you'd be playing finals as South would't have the extra point for a draw....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

on what I've seen this year i thought the umpiring was not great but ok. The Campbell incident... from where I was sitting.. I think hes in trouble- a mirror image of backwells last week- 1 game.

Thats exactly the reason why 3 umpires were brought in some years ago, the other could penalise what the closest one missed.

The 'umpire in the goal square' was 30 meters from the goals, but I do take your point as being valid, ( it was Tony Dey)

Campbells report should be thrown out, nothing more than two players going for the loose ball from where I sat.

Umpiring was pretty confusing at times, its no wonder players give away 25m penalties, as they are confused by the decisions made.

Please tell me this is Dickies last season.

I wasn't at alberton but i saw highlights and i saw Lewis get a free kick for too high in front of goal which resulted in a goal int he last quarter. looked like an excellent tackle by the port player to me....absolute shit decision and that was the only 30 seconds of the game i saw.

as for the norwood v south umpiring, from what i saw it looked fine. south seemed to get a few more frees and norwood supporters were complaining about it bit but the frees were there i thought so no problems here.

Bryce Campbell report should get thrown out. the incident was a bit dangerous but no malice in it at all.

The umpiring is below standard regulary IMO.Just some ridiculous decisions being made and ruining the game.

Good point you raise there amBays. Port might even have gotten away with Foxtel Cup participation.

Yep, and about 30 seconds prior Summerton was man in front when he took the ball overhead only for some egles clown to reach over his shoulder and also grab the ball. Whistle blows, and then the cheating white magoot who mut have ben on the eagles payroll paid it to the Hybrid.

The Summerton incident was in our forward line, the Lewis one was in theirs... the margin at the time was 6 pts.

I don't often claim that umpiring costs a team a game, but today was a case where it basically did.

it's rare but it happens ... the 96 prelim comes straight to mind..and im not referring to the final decision. and that was a final..

the eagles seem to get a good run with the umps (from the games i ahve seen them play in this year)

I think most of them have never played football they have no feel for the game at all especially after the last two weeks of reports against Central players Thomas last week and today Sunderland great body hit on a North player who milks it gets a free adnd 25 metre penalty and also gets reported for a great bump ????? umps absolute pathetic.

Ok so this topic has brought me out of not posting .funny Port claim the umpires cost them the game .
Second goal first term from a mark that was clearly dropped by Port player .And if i can think clearly same thing happened last of ports goals after half time(thats right they only kicked 1) was from some rather iffy umpiring.

Perhaps rather than blame the umpires .Port should spend some money on a kicking coach for a ruckman who couldn't make it at westies and the eagles .How many shots did he miss from right in front ?
Thats one of the reasons you lost today .
One Port Adelaide playing in two leagues (afl and SANFL ) how many finals are they playing in 2011.Blame the umpires Blame the Eagles .Just don't blame yourselves and you will never make a final!!

How far the mighty club has fallen !!!

Typical Port Adelaide both on and off field in the SANFL and AFL - blame everyone else for their problems. I must say it was a pleasure eliminating them today on their home deck.

I actually thought two of the umpires were quite good today, made a couple of iffy calls but no blatent shockers from where I sat, however the younger one (at least I think he was younger) had a shocker of the game just so many free kicks with no feel for the game, the sort of performance that can lead to a game getting out of control.

One thing umpires need to learn is that if you bounce the ball back over one of the ruckmans head there is no way you can penalise that ruckman for sheperding in the ruck contest. The umpires may be nimble athletes that can turn on a dime but player like Hoban and Robson have no show of doubling back to the ball.
