Arseholes lounge - Yes or No?

Postby White Line Fever » Wed Aug 31, 2011 8:21 pm

Let me in the no holds barred forum.

I want to troll.

Tried bigfooty bay13 and got bored as the vics just go on and on about Carlton ... Yawn

Found another place that is quite interesting ... Very high traffic and the only rule is no porn.

I'm undecided at the moment. Reading over the posts on the various topics and judging by the amount of moderator resignation/removals it seems to be fracturing the SA Footy community. I will reserve my final judgement until I experience said special privileges when ever that may be......

however, said special 'privileges' should not be handed out willy nilly and they should be only be given out with good behaviour/other posters respect.

Not quite true, none of those people gave the Arsholes Lounge as the sole reason they resigned, let it also be noted none were removed.
I really don't want to go into the details as we try to keep those things private.

Slight correction.

I resigned as a mod as I'd had enough of being a mod. This debate was going in circles and encouraged me to finally act. Glad I did! :D

I was invited to be a moderator about a month ago and initially accepted believing I would be volunteering my time to a positive cause. After a month I decided that this was not the case and my time would be better invested elsewhere, preferably somewhere where I would be supported and valued for giving my time freely.

The lounge as such is not really the problem for me, but rather manner in which it was implemented and the way it is currently administered. I believe in it's current form it rewards bad behaviour on the main boards, undermines the moderators, and opens them up to 'admin sponsored' ridicule which as volunteers they don't deserve at all.

No one was removed over the issue, but r&b got a free set of steak knifes as a retirement gift.

I am not a member of the lounge, and i doubt i will ask (apply?) to be admitted, however i am curious as to the goings on in there ;) i dont believe i fit the "entry criteria", i don post here often enough to make it worthwhile, however i am a regular reader.

having said that i dont have a problem with the lounges existence. I dont see how it is a problem that it exists. If someone wants to talk about me, or anyone else, behind my/their backs, they will, wether the lounge exists or not. i think i am a big enough person to not worry about what people may or may not be saying about me.

if the arseholes want to have their lounge, let them i say!
