Have the GF's at league ovals, best atmosphere, ovals and facilites.

Come the end of a season, a long one for some volunters, an extra week could be to hard.
Some clubs need the money but I think we need to have them at league ovals.

The last 2 GF's I went to were div 4 in 08 and div 3 in 2010, both at Alberton, thats a great place for a GF!!

I'm for having them at SAAFL grounds, the last GF I remember going to (D3 @ Prospect in 06) the whole crowd was on the grandstand side of the oval (where the bars and canteens were) and the outer side was empty. Crap atmosphere for half the ground. At least SAAFL ovals with cars all around this doesn't happen, same as country footy.

There is plenty of streets to park cars on around the ground and as for the crowd there will be plenty of room either end of the ground plus one side of the oval. Not sure what the issue would be

i know the money is a factor FC but i think GFs should be held at league ovals, Ovals are far better, facilities are better and players would much prefer to play there. Alberton or woodville would be perfect for Portland v Smosh/Flinders

personally I think SMOSH West lakes would be the perfect place to play the Div 3 grand final :D

But yeah agree - GF's should be at SANFL grounds. Catering, facilities, Surface make it a better spectacle for players and supporters alike.

There's minimal room on the eastern side of the oval mate, the boundary line is pretty close to the fence, if you didn't want to stand near the bar or if it was too full the other end is pretty crap to view from.

There should be no cars on the eastern side so that would give more room for spectators. I would suggest sitting on the southern side would be no different to sitting behind the goals at any other club?

You rarely see spectators behind the goals at suburban venues, no offence but parking is an absolute prick at your ground when there's a semi decent crowd, and that's with the spots along the wing to use, your carpark holds about 15 cars, the roads are narrow, generally if you're not there by the time the B's start you are parking a couple of streets away.
I'm sure the surrounding neighbours will be rapt along with the patrons walking 15 minutes to get to their cars with their passengers stopping for a p!ss break along the way.
By all means, good luck in gaining approval, I do think it would be a logistical nightmare for you though.

I agree with most of what you have put up LM. Have been to a few games there in my time and there is never any parks just for a normal game let alone a grand final. I have been told they are a shoe in for a grand final.

i'm thinking st marys will host a grand final but it may be c division sides based purely on geography
c1 has goodwood with uni v broadview while c2 has rocs, spoc and paoc left while c3 has flinders park, smosh and mitcham (i believe) left.
its certainly hosted c division finals before.
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much

Your ground is a great one for a GF Pag! Played there in 2007 and it was a fantatsic atmosphere cars everywhere plus people all around the ground

All Amateur clubs that are finding it tough & have a ground in finals condition should RENT A FENCE, surely the League has some contacts in the field of fencing to have them erected at a not over the top price.
Surely they'd still make enough sufficient profits, in the process its helping out alot of struggling clubs.

If they did that, Hectorville would be a shoe in!

Zed never underestimate Adelaides best cabbie and his 4 siblings and the support they can muster ;). It's amazing what a few cartons of west end and pom pin cruisers can acheive ;)
