Well you said it mal. Not a side in World cricket that Brad Hodge wouldn't walk into at the moment. Should walk into the Australian side as well. Clarke made the selectors breathe a lot easier with his knock against SA but the only reason i can see why Hodge doesn't replace Watson is the concern over Symonds ability to bowl 10 overs.

Interesting that as things currently stand in cricket if you were going to pick a world XI Brad Hodge might not make it but he would be mentioned and be pretty close. No-one (not even you mal) would consider Shane Watson.

HODGE might have bowled 8 overs 0/100 on that Kindygarten oval.

ROD the selectors have done thier homework
WATSON is required to bowl some overs in the powerplays.
HODGE /ROY are liabilities in that period with the ball.

WATSONs last over was a wicket maiden with 5 overs to go vSA
Cant expect HODGE to do that .

HODGE is a very very good batsman and stiff to miss out.

Its back to the old argument AU is picking an allrounder who is a 5th bowler
Something we need to agree on.
BUT I have stated if HODGE played and WATSON was dropped I would accept that.

And if Symonds didn't have the injury concern he would be that allrounder. I agree with everything you say though. Symonds can't (at the minute) be relied upon for 10 overs so Watson is picked.

I wondered if they were worried about the rain....pushing the runs to get as much as they could.

Gee I know it's not a new statement - but these medium pacers bowling for the WI aren't a patch on the 80s early 90s Windies ODI bowlers.

your back dogboy agree give me roberts, marshall, walsh, holding etc to watch anyday would be good to see haydos, gilly, ponting would fair against them on these flat decks they dish up 4 1 dayers these days . bennett king has improved windies fielding out of sight but they will still be chasing 300 plus at this stage.

First game on poors mans tv and some rain. Its hard enough to justify it to yourself to sit up in the early hours of the morning to watch the match, but to watch rain. Im watching on WIN also and support you Dogwatcher about the start. We joined to telecast 15 minutes late, just as Gilly was getting out. WIN had to squeeze in an episode of Two and a half men in between the swimming and the cricket. Why not just give us a weather update (weve got another cyclone) and then some intro before the game actually starts. Pisspoor again.
Wonder, when I was in Katherine has good old Austar, and was able to get the Friday night game on that before Imparja.
