I think I need a serious head clash between Deledio & Goodes in the 1st quarter to get up.
A Stevie J hammy wouldn't go astray either ;)

Decision- Switch captain 2 minutes before lockout from swan to pendles

Result- 2 point loss to browny and promotion goes begging.

Lesson- NEVER CHANGE YOUR TEAM 2 MINUTES OUT FROM LOCKOUT

FINALS RESULTS

Qualifying Finals

Toolman 2417 d. Stats That Matter 2295
Brownys Boys 2301 d. Delicious 2299

Elimination Finals

Les's Men 2302 d. Pidgeridoo 2170
Hips Don't Lie 2397 d. Loathsome 2347

Congrats to Toolman and Brownys Boys who both earnt promotion into Division II next season by winning their Qualifying Finals. Toolman did it pretty easy but Browny only just snuck in with a two point victory over Delicious and valleys is kicking himself as you can see above. At least Delicious gets another serving next week. Not so the losers of the Elimination finals after they were punted out of the finals by Les's Men and Hips Don't Lie who will get their chance for promotion in next week's semi finals.

I think I'd rather miss the finals than lose the semis next week and get so close but not earning the promotion!

SEMI FINALS PREVIEW

4. Stats That Matter vs. 8. Les's Men

Ol' Statsy, like Delicious was all the rage early on as they set a cracking pace during the minor rounds but the cracks are starting to appear in Stats That Matter. True, last week Stats only got ten out of Mackie and Lower who won't be available but head to head Les's Men look to be the more formidable combination. He has a Cat free defence for a start and that's his top seven defenders I'm talking about. Stats needs to find some more points back there or it will be straight sets for him. Trent Cotchin is a crucial player for Les and with the Tigers set to play the Demons, a team with only perhaps McKenzie as a tagger Cotch could rack up a big score which is something he doesn't do on a consistent basis. Stats has had a solid season but it will all come to an end this week with a Les's Men victory.

3. Delicious vs. 7. Hips Don't Lie

I backed against Hips last week so why am I talking about them this week.....ah another dud tip REB! Looking at the lineups for this game I reckon MERZUNGO (Great name LOL) will come under strong consideration at the selection meetings of both teams. I reckon Hippsy has got a bit of a problem. Enright is out of that backline and he's still carrying Chris Newman. Either he is out of trades or he has been using Lower as DEF 7 in recent weeks. Hang on...Lower is out this week as well. Both have the powerful Petrie/Cox ruck combination but I reckon that Delcious will get more points out of midfielders Scotty Thompson and Luke Hodge and that this predicted points boost will be enough to see him over the line. Delicious to record a sweet victory.

I'm predicting a straight sets exit for Stats That Matter this week as I reckon the league's highest ranking coach will be too strong in that final. Les's mate Hips will give a good account of himself but I don't reckon that valleys will go downhill this week. Good luck to all coaches.

SEMI FINALS RESULTS

Les's Men 2390 d. Stats That Matter 2248
Hips Don't Lie 2177 d. Delicious 2175

With so much to play for these are games you don't want to be losing. The losers of these matches have had excellent seasons in SuperCoach this season but will walk away with nothing to show for it with valleys suffering a heartbreaking two point loss to Hips Don't Lie. Hips and Les's Men are mates of CoverKing who joined the league at the same time and had pretty much the same rating last year and both have taken the same path as teams who have qualified for Hogg Division II next year alongside Brownys Boys and Toolman.

Les's Men remain a very real premiership chance as the league's top scorer and he has done very well to rack up nearly 2400 points during a week when the scoring was down for many teams. Les's Men accounted for Stats pretty comfortably in the end and will play Browny next week in a game that he can win. I keep writing of Hips Don't Lie but they just keep coming back for more and proving me wrong. Hips snuck over the line by two points so an unlucky end to the year for Delicious who will be in Division III again next year. Hips Don't Lie will line up against the mighty Toolman next week but I don't reckon they'll be too upset when I tip against them again in the Prelim Final previews.

PRELIMINARY FINALS PREVIEW

With the Division III promotions and relegations all sorted for 2011 all that remains is the not inconsiderable matter of who will go on and win the premiership. The winners of these matches will be invited to play in the Hogg Champions League next season so plenty to play for this week.

1. Toolman vs. 7. Hips Don't Lie

Toolman has been in ominous form in recent weeks and I believe that he will cover Pav and Sylvia well with Steve Johnson and Mzungu. For Hips Don't Lie I reckon he's reached the end of the road. Hippsy has to cover Newman, Judd, Pav and Gibbs and I don't reckon he has the trades or the cattle to do so effectively. It has been a brave finals campaign for Hips Don't Lie but it will come to an end this week. I am predicting a win for Toolman and the minor premier will have a well deserved invitation to the 2012 Hogg Champions League to go with his promotion.

2. Brownys Boys vs. 8. Les's Men

Brownys Boys have been running almost side by side with Toolman in recent weeks but he appeared to get the wobble up even though he won his Qualifying Final a fortnight ago. Browny has coverage for Gibbs, Pav and Sylvia but unless he has some trades underwhelming scorers such as McKernan might have to take the field for Brownys Boys. Les's Men have many of the same players but also has to cover scoring machine Murphy but Les has multiple options to cover his outs even if he might be sweating on the selection of Nick Lower to cover Gibbs. I reckon Lower will get selected and that Les's Men will go in sans donuts. Les's Men should win this one to go on and meet Toolman in the Grand Final.

PRELIMINARY FINALS RESULTS

Hips Don't Lie 2332 d. Toolman 2180
Les's Men 2341 d. Brownys Boys 2196

Les's Men are joined at the Hips Don't Lie. Very similar scores last year, joined the Hogg this year, both promoted to Division III after originally signing up in Division IV and both only just finishing in the eight with now both in the Grand Final. It appears that these two sides cannot be split! They must have about 28 of the same players such is the way they follow each other about. During the Prelims this weekend Toolman's mighty season ended in a whimper with not even an invite to Hogg Champions League to show for it. You could sense the Boys were going to end up in the Browny but I didn't see the Toolman getting fixed up.

I've been tipping against them all finals so Hippsy will be hoping I keep doing that. What's the story with the eighth ranked side making the Grand Final anyway? ;)
