Bowny got a game :?

And yet the incompetent umpires didn't even pay a free. Yet they managed to report Nick Gill when he clearly spoilt the ball. That report was rightly thrown out. Shame about the 50 metre penalty.

The actual tribunal system is working well, but how many reports have the umpires got wrong this year. It is becoming ludicrous.

gill did not spoil the ball he got the norwood player in the head after he had taken the mark but was not worth a suspension, a 25m penalty at worse.

10 from 33 "not guilty" (30%) up to Round 17, then all five (Jarrad on appeal) in the next two rounds.

An average of 3 in 8 "not guilty" if the Piasente charge is upheld.

He deserved more to be honest, he was lucky. His punch which flattened Backwell when he wasn't looking was a clear king hit and cowardly and completely unprovoked. However what would you expect from a soft player like Bown hitting a bloke half his size? You never see him using his size and aggression against anyone near his own size?

I beg to differ. I was standing right where the incident happened and from the outer it was all ball. Even the Norwood barrackers around me agreed. It doesn't matter much, it was a frivolous report and the umpire should be relegated.

Good point about another example of how bad the umpires are this year robranisgod.

Should have gotten a medal for knocking that little whinger over, all I saw him do was complain to umpires all day.

Bowny had a near faultless record before this suspension (his first I think?) so not sure where you get that rubbish from mate.

Maybe OTR was talking about Big Clint by mistake?

I didn't call him a thug but he is as soft as butter in fair contests against bigger bodies from what I have seen of him over the years so hence my reference to his size and aggression in a genuine contest so his obvious frustration was to take a cheap shot when Backwell wasn't looking.

Backwell whinging to the umpires all day doesn't excuse the cowardly punch though so can't see your point there? Not as if Eagleton doesn't yap and complain about things that occur during the game?

Probably the first time Bown has managed to get close enough to someone smaller than himself for 10 years.

Too late, Bown is on the thug list. Picking on an amputee. Pfft.

No worries, not disputing nor excusing the hit, just my own dislike for Backwell.

The assertion that Bowny only ever puts in against smaller blokes is miles off IMHO ... He is (or was up until now) a ball player and doesn't "go" any blokes, but he certainly stands his ground in contests against all bodies, whether they be big or small.

I wonder if Backwell will add to his collection of jumpers next year ? He is surely due for a change !
Judging by the time he spent talking to umpires maybe he is joining their ranks next year ?

Doesn't show the frivolous reports that have been made and then thrown out prior to them getting to the tribunal. I can immediately think of three with North this eyar and I am sure that most other clubs have a similar number. I think that the umpires have been "trigger" happy this year.

Didn't realise being reported itself was any penalty. I think it's long overdue that umpires put everything they think needs to be looked at in the book to keep the game under control.
