Think you are right Hondo, my feeling, again from mere speculation is that Malthouse will go to Richmond for the same reasons you are suggesting!

I think Malthouse would struggle at Richmond as has everyone since 1980! Sometimes we guru-ise certain coaches too much. They still need a really good list of players to win a flag. That's why we have to be realistic in our expectations of our next coach.

We can now add:

Dean Bailey
Rodney Eade

To the list of prospects.

I personally think Bailey is a good fit. Already knows the SA system after being an assistant at Port Adelaide.

I think he is a good coach too. Was getting some good results with a young Melbourne outfit this year until a trigger happy board gave him the flick after one bad loss. To me it smacked of a decision of a club who has not tasted success for a long time.

Bailey definitely deserves another shot IMO.

I wouldnt touch Eade ..... Eade with a pretty reasonable squad has achieved nothing more than Craig did. Bailey, agreed should have been given

Bailey would be a chance, but bit sceptical of his ability to get a young team to be consistant. Which is what we are looking for.

In saying that i was sceptical of Bickley's ability to lead the side. He has ticked every box i could ask for so far. Honest in his press conferences, gives info to the fans on what they are trying to do and to see the guys actually do it, means alot.

Could Eade or Bailey be useful in a Senior Assistant Role?

Pass on both thanks. Mark Neeld was on AFL Insider last night and while sayihg his main priority at the moment is to help Collingwood win the flag, more or less said he's interested in the Adelaide job.

All coaches that have been named are capable of coaching a club, but are they of the crows.

Bickleys ideas, by putting van berlo in the middle, along with vince was a great idea. He just seems to make decisions during game day that craigy couldnt do. That is the sort of coach we need, someone to make the calls when things are either in the bablance or need to make the final blow to beat a side and i think Mark has that.

Mark Neeld is one id also look in to, has been under Malthouse now, so would have gained experience from him enormously. Just have to look at the Scott brothers who played under Lethal Matthews, what great coaches they have shown to be so far. Eade could do a good job, got to remeber that blighty never won a flag with Geelong in 4 attempts, before taking the crows to back to back. Eade got the dogs to 3 prelims in a row, and a grand final with sydney in 1996, so the man can coach.

I wouldnt go near bailey to be honest, i think he did the right thing with the dees, but isnt the right man for us. Like craigy, i don't reckon he has quick reactions to situations on game day, the dees prove that when they get beaten, they normally get really beaten.

I had concerns about Bickley before but in a short time he has shown a bit of guts in making player moves at certain points in the game. Unless Adelaide can get an absolute gun, proven and experienced coach ie Roos, Malthouse, Matthews then I think we should go with a younger coach ie Bickley, Burns. However I think the club should get a football manager/coaching director with alot of experience to oversee things. For me this would be Balme, Matthews, Eade etc. I think the coaching panel needs a shake up.
Who is/was Adelaide's FWD coach, was it Bickley?

I'd rather a Neeld, Bickley, Sanderson or Burns type rather than give a 16 year senior coach a go at a 3rd club.

As long as it's only an Assistant. See no problem if he's ruck coach. :)

What about wellman as an assistant coach, he would bring experience from another club, if we get a coach like neeld or bicks, then the more experience in the box the better.

You would think once West Coast are out of the finals Scott Burns will be announced as Coach

Great get by the crows. Has played under some good/ great coaches (Cornes, Mathews, Thompson) spent a season at Port under Chocco and then at Geelong. Feel like his apprenticeship is far ahead then that off Burns' and shouldn't be that big of a surprise. Guess I shouldn't get sucked into believing all the rubbish from the AFL press club. Three coaches that they have got wrong in the last week.

Just had a listen to the press conference and have a very good feeling about Sanderson. Really keen to see the club succeed and already has a plan on what he wants. Will be very interesting to see what happens with the list and over the silly season but, I am excited about it.
