How long is a piece of string. What an absurd question.. There is no definitive answer.

Oh,but there is. Any given piece of string will be exactly twice the length as it is from one end to the middle.

My problem with your comment is, Primus has really only had one pre-season and draft period to do anything, what did you expect him to do in that time?[/quote]

i guess the key is whether the club is happy that Primus is living up to what he wouldve said during the interview process - he still has a job so the board must be happy with the direction

Likewise, they'd be crazy not to try and chuck some coin at Roy Laird and try and procure him away from Centrals. I seriously don't think Lairdy would be interested to be honest, but $$$'s speaks volumes, and ya never know. ;)

Fair dinkum?

Parhaps I was referring to the below post regarding Laird?

Thanks for the feedback though Goaty and keep in mind my next post might just not be directed towards yours. ;)

Well his list management with centrals is impressive, professional and the way he represents centrals is first class, outside of the port adelaide culture (which imo wouldnt be a bad thing for port to step outside of this) and is a successful coach.

Not the worst suggestion.

Everyone knows Roy Laird is more than happy with his role at Centrals in the SANFL and has made it no secret that he doesn't aspire to be an AFL coach, BUT if ya don't sound him out for an assistant role, you'll never know. Surely (one of) our main focus has to be surrounding Primus with quality football brains - assuming that Primus conitnues next year, which he will. With the very real possibility that Lairdy will rack up flag #8 if the Doggies get up again this year, what else will be left to achieve?? :? Flag #9? At some stage, he may want a challenge other than coaching Centrals to 15 premierships. And with the AFL pumping money in so we can spend a bit more on our football dept, you'd have to think that an AFL assistant's wage might be a tad higher than a senior SANFL coach's salary? :? Not everyone is driven by money, but you never know. ;)

We need to leave no stone unturned in our quest to right the ship and thinking outside the box a little wouldn't go astray.

Why have we not "thought outside the square" though? We cant afford to. We cant send blokes to Arizona or the Andes for high altitude training. ;)

who would ya rather have as an assistant

Laird - who lives in adelaide and can be available at all home games and all training sessions

or Laidley - who rolls up once a week and then conducts reviews etc via skype from VIC

They have at least 5 more years of pain and by that stage, they will be more of a basket case than they are now. The only way they can keep on going, is by getting handouts from the AFL and they sure as hell aren't going to do that forever. My guess, is they will fold within four years.

Mate, I don't think Blighty could've done anything will the mess that Chocco left. Primus has been handed the most poisonous chalis in recent history in the AFL. They've played a negative brand of footy for years, a brand that didn't suit the playing group and burnt out the runners they did have.

5 year TV rights starting next year will assure we have 5 years and I think in 2-3 we can expect some imporvement, slight as it may or may not be.

Then it will be up to Port, the SANFL, the AFL and SMA to make Adelaide Oval work.

I hope for your sake you're right, but i can't see them getting out of this one. when you look at the players who apparently want out at the end of this year too, they are going to be in disarray.

@ Arse...errr, Bum Crack.

If we lose Trengove, it will hurt, but I am hearing positive things about his negotiations.

If we lost Carlile, it won't be any different to season 2011, he's been very, very average.

Who else do you hear wants to leave?

Salopek? Ok.
Pearce? Ok.
Ebert? Not ok. Hitchcock can though. How TF does Hitchcock get a game ahead of Ebo....

Please explain...?? :?

Caught up with a good mate of mine last night over a few lazy bevs and we managed to solve all the Power's woes (also ticked off world hunger; unrest in the Middle East and the hole in the ozone layer.. ;) ), but I loved his analogy on the SANFL's involvement in the history of the Power.

A large corporation (eg; BHP) purchases a rival company and pillages as much coin as they possibly can from it, all the while intending on running it into the ground to ultimately wind it up. Thought that was pretty accurate, as were Darryl Wakelin's comments that the SANFL have never gotten over 1990 and some 21yrs later, still have an axe to grind.

Thoroughly agree with your assessment on players 'rumoured' to be on the move at season's end, Boon-eye, as too Hitchcock over Ebert.

well there's four senior players in that lot. throw in the others who are retiring, and that leaves a very young inexpienced team left to fend for themselves. they will be lucky to beat GWS next year. Surely you can see they are rooted???

GH why would the company purchase a rival to bleed them dry, only to then throw copious amounts of cash back at them? Good analogy i dont think???

Ebert? Been waiting for years for some solid footy out of him. Poor GPG average for a permanent forward, has he ever been given a proper go on the ball? It is where he won his magarey.
