Perhaps his opinion of himself is different to that of the Coaches? It happens both ways.
While the timing with Meady is lousy, I think the writing was on the wall 2 weeks ago after TB started thumping the podium after the Bays loss. Players who weren't up to playing Finals were going to be moved on.
Xavier Watson and Kerren Hall are the 2 I'm most disappointed about. Watson has genuine football talent and Kerren has gone backwards over the past couple of seasons (pretty much since I told him he reminded me of Darryl Poole?).
From what I can garner, Mead wanted those players to remain in the Reserves for the rest of the season. Reserves Premiership or not, it's not the path forward and it all came to a head.

Bamford would pick the blokes he wants played & their positions played in the B's no-doubt about that not Mead.
I don't know why Mead is copping it, he's had the respect from all players and its shown by their position on the ladder.

Or that has not been happening as the league coach would like and it has come to a head over the issue of some particular players in which case the club must come before the reserves coach and he moves on. My mail is this same situation of players being played "out of position" has been a bone of contention through most of last year too.

I totally agree , it stinks of a personality clash that has probably been brewing for a while Id say and maybe the senior coach is slightly annoyed at Meads success and that he would definately covet the top job ! The whole Port Club just cant keep on at this rate can it ?85 WAS A GOOD YEAR wrote:G wrote:I agree with Bamfords thinking as its all about the League sides development, although the action taken with the U'18s is slightly puzzling.
bayman, one day you will realise that virtually NO ONE gives a rats toss bag about the results in the Seconds except the players involved![]()
Judging by Mead's reaction, obviously their Coach does too.![]()
Seems strange to me to make this decision 4 weeks out from finals though.
After all, they still have to put 21 players on the field each week for the remainder of the season in both grades.
No matter what some supporters from the outer think about 18s & Reserves premierships, every player / team takes the field wanting to win the flag in their comp.
The guys who play Reserves and U18s have trained and made sacrifices over the past 10 months hoping to win a Premiership in their grade, and from their results so far, would be looking forward to finals.
If they lose a game it is as shattering to them, as a League loss is for the general club supporter.
