Organising a band

Postby Mythical Creature » Fri Jul 01, 2011 11:34 am

Since I have a bit of time on my hand at the minute I have been given the job of organising a band for the last home game of the year. Anyone had previous experience with good ones. Looking for something that plays a good mix of covers. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Cheers! :D

This is all about budget MC. A half decent cover band that does covers for four or five hours will set you back $1000+
A garage band of uni students will do it for petrol money and some free p1ss.
Ring the Bentleys Hotel in Clare and get contact details of local boys Paul Jam - they are apparently pretty good

Saw Radio Oz at SMOSH a while back. They took you on a musical journey from the 60's through to today with mostly "anthem" type tracks, the type of stuff everyone would know.

We had a band from Adelaide travel down and play at Meningie footy club last week end, they were excellent and played a good range of covers, called the LADY KILLERS

We had a band come up to the Berri Footy Club last month called "The Incredibles". They were great, because they play everything, so good for all ages.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

The Billy Grufz, from Meningie, are good. Good blokes too and at a reasonable price.

not going to name the band, but we had a terrible band last nite for our cocktail night...barely played, stoped midway through a song, singer reading lyrics of the stand  5 people in the band. would hate to see how much the club wasted

i know its past the last game now but broken theory are a great coverband they play songs from pearl jam, greenday, matchbox 20, kings of leon, foo fighters, powderfinger etc we have had them at the hawks and it is always a top night. u would be looking at $1000 but they play about 42 songs per gig which is usually 3 sets of 13 or 14 roughly. keep it in mind if you need a great cover band.

Cheers Axe. Our last home game is this weekend and I ended up organising "The Lady Killerz" thanks to Grasshopper.

So far they have been very good to deal with and I will find out this week if they put on a good show. Will let everyone know next week how they went.
