Nutkickers did just that to Big Al this week to snaffle the last spot in the eight after Moe's onegameatatimers knocked the FOOTYLEDGENS out of the top eight. The Nutkickers have been mid table all year but looked to be in real danger of missing out on the finals so a nice effort there from Giant.

Media Park has been rubbish for most of this season but during the second half of the year his Crusaders have managed to score much better. He's racked up an impressive tie in the last round against the high scoring Chicken Noodles but it could be a case of too little too late for Parky.

With the finals about to begin those looking to be promoted or avoid relegation have four weeks to get the job done. The Chicken Noodles look pretty safe in fourth spot with a lead of 1251 points which means that the baby giraffes would need to take about 315 points off the Noodles a round in order to go up which isn't likely.

In the red zone JJ's Jrunks trail pafc1870 by 1002 so JJ would need to take 250 points off pafc1870 every week in order to avoid the drop into the Bunny Bowl. At this stage it looks like the promotions and relegations are set.

Remember folks this is what the colours mean

Green zone: You'll be in Hogg Division IV next season
White zone: You'll be in Hogg Division V next season
Red zone: You'll be in the Bunny Bowl next season

Good luck to all finalists. I predict a Buddy Franklin vs. Greedy Guns grand final.

Division VI Finals Preview

At the start of the year I didn’t think this league would be of a very high standard but Division VI has turned out some top coaches in the Hogg this season. Buddy Franklin has been out on a long lead for most of the year and the Wizard Sleeves have had a magic season. The Guns that are greedy look set to fire a warning shot across the bow of the other contenders but many pundits are prepared to stick their necks out and back the baby giraffes.

In the bottom half of the eight the Chicken Noodles looked good for the majority of the season but in recent weeks they’ve been hot and cold and the consistently inconsistent Go Tiges can’t be expected to change their stripes at this late stage of the year. Hamsik you star appeared to be a universal selection for a top four spot but ended up shooting for 5th and the Nutkickers farmed the last spot in the eight and ended up with a couple of achers. Now that I’ve used all my team name related jokes I can get on with the business of writing the previews.

Qualifying Finals

1. Buddy Franklin vs. 4. the baby giraffes

The premiership favourites Buddy Franklin faces the giraffes in their first up final and should go on and earn the week off. Buddy has been racking up some massive scores this year and while the giraffes have been more than handy at this level I reckon they can’t quite bridge the gap and pull off the upset. Buddy Franklin to kick on and win this final.

2. The Wizard Sleeves vs. 3. Greedy Guns

The Sleeves have been running second for most of this year and have been one of the competition’s heavyweights but the Greedy Guns have been right behind them all the way. The Wizard has said has nothing up his sleeves in terms of trades for the finals and I know from experience how this is going to turn out. Greedy Guns is capable of matching the Sleeves during times of an equitable trading scenario but I believe he has a few trades left and this gives the Guns the edge. I believe that the Greedy Guns are Buddy Franklin’s main threat for this premiership. Greedy Guns to win this one and earn the week off.

Elimination Finals

5. Hamsik you star vs. 8. Nutkickers

This match is a genuine grudge match with pels and Sleeping Giant exchanging pleasantries throughout the entire season. Nutkickers has overcome a tardy start to sneak into the finals and if he can knock off Hamsik here he might go on and do some damage. I reckon both of these sides could have taken Go Tiges and maybe Chicken Noodles as well so they’ve drawn the short straw a bit but at least they get to have one more face off for summer bragging rights. I reckon it will be pels who laughs last here as I’m tipping a Hamsik you star victory.

6. Chicken Noodles vs. 7. Go Tiges

My erstwhile workmate Stewie Not Griffin has done pretty well for himself this year. Both of his teams have made the finals in the Hogg this year which is a good effort for a coach who was pencilled in for an easy victory by most coaches last season. However I reckon Stew is going to lose both matches this week. Chicken Noodles has been a consistent scorer all season long even though they have dropped some matches to teams that they shouldn’t have lost to. The Go Tiges for their part have been very inconsistent scoring massively one week and bugger all the next. While inconsistency might earn you 7th spot, it will not win you finals and I reckon Chicken Noodles wins this and will live to cluck another day.

Im hoping the Wizard Sleeves dont do a magic act and produce some trades after saying he was out of them? With all these players who may be missing and my ruck stocks torn apart my 2 trades for this week may need to be used just to put a full side on the park.

No magic act here, I will still get a full side with all the injuries going on and the NM bye but you should be pretty safe. I will be relying on the lesser likes of Lower, Smith and Co. to get lucky and have big ones, providing I have them on that is, the last 2 weeks I have been unlucky leaving players on the bench that have scored big while opting for others who have spudded it up.

Question with the promotion/relegation list. When do the scores stop for this? If a team is knocked out this week, will they still get a score for the rest of the finals each week even though they aren't playing anyone? If not a team that makes the GF can make up 7000-8000 on someone who is knocked out in W1 of the finals.

Your team will still score points even if it is knocked out of the comp. Whether you keep looking at it and decide to maximise the points your team gets is up to you. It is the final points score that determines promotion and relegation in this Division.

Looks like I will also have Smith & Mzungo on the ground. Still undecided whether Lower starts or Gilbert. I have noticed Lower can drop off a little after having a big week.
Should be a good contest this week. You have a team that could quite easily turn it on and score big. Cooney still out must have been a blow for you.

Yeah Cooney looked like he was getting back to his best before injury, I'm hoping Didak will fill his shoes after last weeks little cameo. I have the next 4 hours to stew over possible benchies and captain, Geez I hate this game

Just had a look at the Matchup, Greedy Guns. I won't be too disappointed if Cox is a late withdrawal ;)
Your midfield though, outstanding
