No teaching children the Koran does not do that. It's the person adding their own fundamentalist bs that does and fundamentalist bs is not unique to Islam or any other religion.

But what's happening in London has nothing to do with religion or race. These kids...and they are mostly teenage kids...are from all backgrounds...black, white, asian, poor, middle class.

200+ people have been arrested so far with plenty more to come, will be interesting to see how they are actually dealt with, I suspect with little more than a smack on the wrist and sent out of the courtroom with a bag of lollies with the excuse that the courts are to busy and there is not enough room in the prisons to place people.

Several years ago a shop I worked in had its front window smashed by a drunken teenage idiot, the chap that lived across the road followed the kid home and led the police to him where he was charged and sent to the youth court and got off with a warning. No mention however was ever made that this clown should have to take responsibility for what he had done and work off the cost of the window to the insurance company. I feel that is where the court system goes wrong and lets people down. People caught damaging property should be dealt with as the law allows but should also be required to take responsibility for what they have done and actually pay for the damages and make good what was done. I feel the gutless way these damages are being carried out is likely due in part to people who ultimately are not prepared to take responsibility for what they have done and I feel that the legal system actually encourages that to be the case. If people want to see this type of thing not happening again, its time the legal system got a major overhaul and people were dealt with in a way that was actually fair to all parties concerned.

Sadly true and as much as I would like to see them forced to do the clean-up of the carnage they've left behind chain-gang style it takes too long to process through the courts and find guilty (or not).

Cameron did say in his statement that "if you are old enough to commit the crimes you are old enough to be punished for them"...we'll see.

Interesting to see reports that today Twitter is now being used to organize the clean-up with people posting where and what help is needed. I guess every cloud...in some places this might actually improve the community relations etc.

EXACTLY! IF that drunken teenage idiot knew the full severity of the law, he wouldn't have done it in the first place. Do you see Singaporians spitting chewy out in public in Singapore?

Hope the audio/video clip on here works outside the UK.

When they played it on the radio news they said the two girls that are boasting about the riots are 17yo.

A 16yo boy in Glasgow has been 'detained by police on suspicion of trying to encourage riots via Facebook'.

...and let's hope they're all as stupid as this muppet...would save the police a lot of time tracking them down

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... l?ITO=1490

Sky News now say shops in parts of London have been advised to close early and they're showing footage of shops in both London and Birmingham getting windows boarded up including those so far unaffected. Let's hope they're wrong.

This has been posted on Facebook...
Hillingdon has been confirmed to be getting hit tonight.that's also the ruislip and uxbridge area.they have already shut down uxbridge road.

Unfortunately the quickest, simplest and cheapest way to end this is unlikely to happen at the moment...torrential rain...you can bet a pound to a penny that nearly all these morons would be fairweather troublemakers and wouldn't even be out on the streets if it was crap weather. Sounds crazy but people just don't riot in bad weather.

I think it's great seeing people from many different races and religions coming together. Multiculturalism at it's finest.

A pommy chick asked her boyfriend last night if he'd be able to get her a diamond ring. He looked at her and said "do i look like I'm made of bricks?"
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

This all got me thinking, here I sit in cozy Australia slamming a ruthless, murdering Syrian government for shooting protesters. Watching the London riots unfold I'm thinking like Centurion, shoot and bash the feral bastards. The police however have no power and do nothing.

Maybe Syria has it right, nail a few and nip it in the bud. If you go to a rally, you take the chance you could be one of the few. Can guarantee half these gutless little pricks with the mob mentality wouldn't be there if they thought they could be shot, in the face hey Centurion.

A fair bit of difference though. Middle Eastern uprisings were politically motivated and in search of basic rights.

The London riots seemingly have no connection with any political protest and are far removed from the initial incident.
