I think a lesson of hasty appointments may have been learnt. I have read that he should be given some slack due to being a reserves premiership coach and on the surface I understand that .However that side would have beaten a lot of league sides that year and could have just about coached themselves.

Can any Sturt member tell me if you need to be appointed to the Board or can it be done internally ?I once thought we members voted for the Board members after a period of time. Not sure we have the right football people on there at the moment.

I'm not sure, but I think that 3 of 7(?) positions directly elected by the members and one elected from the Vice President's group

Give the club a call on 8271 4611 and request a copy of the constitution HP. That should clear things up for you and you can then reconsider your mischievous rumblings both here and on the unofficial Sturt forum.

The question concerning the board is a legitimite question and as a member I thought I would have a say in who is on the board , like most boards in business and sport .

Care to elaborate on your definition of 'one of those supporters'? If you mean one of 'those' supporters that chooses to back the club rather than sit behind a computer screen potting people without having any real idea of how things work then perhaps I fit the bill.

For someone that claims to know the goings on at the SFC reasonably intimately and leading us all to conclude you are a member, the fact you don't realise that most of the club directorships are voted on by the members is rather baffling. Do you attend the AGM each year? If you do you obviously don't pay much attention to what is going on.

On yesterday's game, thought the endeavour and will to work hard was right there, if not the polish and efficiency going forward. The players certainly looked as though they were going full bore for the jumper and coach.

One of "those " is referring to supporters who think that every thing that Sturt does is great , one that just can't see what is going on footy wise on the ground with poor coaching , skills and selections.

I have no problem saying what I think is wrong at Sturt and if you take that as pot shots then that is up to you. I call it honesty.


Don't insinuate that I am not behind the club please , I would have thought a paid up member is behind the club. Imagine clubs having supporters agreeing with everything and not seeing where they can improve , a sure way to not improve accepting mediocricy.

As for the voting , tell us what happens at the AGM each year then as not all members could go to the AGM , 3010 is a lot to squeeze in.

Yesterdays game showed endeavour against Centrals but I expected a good showing considering Centrals injuries and suspension.
We just need to work on the skills and get some speed in tye forward lines.

With contracts today not worth much more then toilet paper if both sides are in reasonable agreement , it wouldnt suprise me if both West and Sturt may well end up in similar situations at seasons end ie. with coaches that are not really wanted by their clubs powerbrokers , despite a contract in place . Collins may just turn his back on the big bucks at West and trot off home leaving a favourite son in Norman to slot in and not Mickan . Sturt may just let it happen too , especially when they look at Norwood and South under different coaches , why wait when the grass is sometimes truly greener on the outer side !

When was Norman himself doubting he would coach next year ? He is contracted for 2012 and he doesn't need to confirm he is staying , the club will confirm if he is not staying .

Who have you heard Teaoby ? (ps lose not loose , unless that was a criptic clue for John Hinge )

It doesn't feel like the Robert Pyman era South where bunches of their players left under varyingly feeble circumstances but I have to admit I don't get the feeling Norman is able to get what he needs to out of Sturt. No doubt they're short some cattle in most positions but he's ultimately responsible for getting the right talent and making it perform up to scratch. I think he should coach next season but they'd have to progress, regardless of whether they lose players like Gum and Sheedy.

Rick MacGowan is the only reason Sturt were able to assemble a capable team in 2008, the majority of which had committed to Sturt for 2009, when Rick unexpectedly pulled the pin prior to 2009. Rick is a brilliant coach and unfortunately Norman's poor inter-personal skills combined with his inability to maintain an already proven game plan, has resulted in a gradual mass-exodus from the club since then, its no coincidence. Extremely harsh, but very true.

Rick MacGowan was the only reason that Tristan Gum went to Sturt. he had gone to Melbourne for a year and he was going to come back to North but MacGowan persuaded him to go to Sturt. Remember that Sturt were expected to come bottom in 2007 but MacGowan had the football know how and people skils to really build a side. I think that if macGowan had stayed at Sturt they would not be bottom now.

Can't answer that, but given he was an assistant at Hawthorn last season, I can't imagine why he would want to return to such a situation at Sturt.

I'm pretty certain Rick has stepped aside from any football involvement this year as his packaging business is keeping him very busy in Melbourne.

I'm pretty certain Rick has stepped aside from any football involvement this year as his packaging business is keeping him very busy in Melbourne.

He was an interested spectator at the Sturt-Port match at Unley a few weeks' back. He would've seen how much work there is to do at Sturt!
