This is why the rule need to change to at be least 8 games in that grade a 50/50 spit to qualify for finals or if a club has a higher team playing finals as well. Then players can be dropped down to play in the lower grade or if a club can prove a player is playing in the lower grade because they have been injured for some time and havent got the 8 games to qualify for finals (Which would be a letter from a Doctor only) While the SAAFL run the current system. Teams win flags that they don’t deserve.
The reason for this is teams bottom out mid year so if they want to play players down total up to them but 4 games is to low. Needs to be more.

If our B grade weren't going to play finals I would've loved to have qualified a few guys like Mark Vawser, Steven Johnson etc. They have played similar games in each grade and would be logical to get them for the side playing finals.

It wasnt the Elizabeth game im talking about it was Uni game the week before.
I'm sure they tell an Elizabeth player what they are doing?

Punkys a mate and I trust what he tells me and their coach is a top bloke and their account of the player situation is perfectly fine with me, even after having our finals chances pretty much ruined by them.

Good luck to them, except of course if we sneak in and play them again

To who ever you are bud.Not many clubs strive to win C grade premierships.
They have players returning from injury that strengthen all sides.

Do you even know the rules? A player has to play 4 games to qualify for a club not a grade, If players from Fitzroy are playing B grade for the first half and then down to C grade in the second half of the season they need to player more in the lower grade, if it is 50/50 they still need a permit I believe? If they have played half of the season I would suggest they have had a fair hand in getting their side into the finals and deserve to play there. I cant see any side dropping players to their C grade to win a C grade flag no matter how bad they are doing.

As long as the best 42 players are playing A or B grade then its fine, otherwise it is stacking in my opinion, but each club can do whatever they want, no difference to uni teams playin with bunch of mates when certain players could play higher. Every team has some players that by watching them could clearly play higher but unless you know the circumstances its probably best not to comment. Hopefully there A grade doesnt play us on saturday ;)

I have been following this thread with interest.

Some realities:

1.Uni lost to Fitzroy fair and square. Fitzroy were first to the ball, quite simple really.
2. Uni has 7 teams and the Div C4 team is the G team not the Cs.
3. Uni try to win every game it plays in every division. Uni has aspirations to get back into Div 1. The last priority for the club in general is a C4 premiership (but they will do their best in trying).

Good Luck to all in the finals.

A mate of mine played his first game for the year for Fitzroy against Elizabeth to help out with numbers. He played B grade. He's unfit and should have been playing C grade. Says to me that the B grade didn't pick their best 21...

That's the idea Kick "em while there down or even better PM Punky and get the real reasons why.
Being a previous player it gives me the s###ts to see people assuming.
That's NOT how the club operates.

Should I instead be assuming that he's a gun and only played B's because he's so unfit, otherwise he would have gone straight into the A grade? I didn't assume that because I know him and know why he played B grade. So I guess you're just assuming that I'm assuming and that really would give anyone the sh*ts!!

As stated earlier, we need to qualify players- a guy playing his 1st game for the year in R17 would be of no benefit to us in finals (ie he will not be qualified)
Is this too hard for some people to understand?
Wonder what would happen if we win the Premiership...

Baggy, Fitzroy have been backed in from $13 on Sportsbet, into $1.33, based on the rumour that several AFL players are fronting, to ensure the C grade make the finals...

Not to mention the 4 Salisbury d graders that played b grade for fitzroy to ensure there was no forfeit, but the c grade had 5 or 6 on the bench. From what I saw on Saturday that fitzroy c grade side would beat the b grade side by 10 - 15 goals.
