Injuries and general stuff have caused them to slip throughout the year but it just goes to show they are capable. This week will be a big round. FP got the week off last week and will play SMOSH in what will be match of the round if not before the finals showdowns. Mitcham have POS (opportunity for POS to pull the pin?), PH vs Seaton- Will there even be a game for Seaton?, GG vs CBC - well CBC pulled the pin and thats it so GG get the week off before the 1st week of finals. Good or Bad thing? Then there is Portland vs Pooraka. Pooraka have pushed a few sides this year and have beaten the likes of GG, POS and Seaton i think this year (gladly be corrected). So another tough one for us leading to our 1st fianls series in over 4 years. Pooraka have run and talent. We need to be on our best to not let this one slip and loose momentum for the finals.

Spoke to the League last week who advised that it is not an automatic disqualification after three forfeits - it is a guideline for the League to make a decision. They said that given there is one round left they would allow us to play. If I was Golden Grove I wouldn't be counting on a week off just yet - we only forfeit when we have no other option - a week is a long time in footy

WT will it be a triple header at CBC this Satdee??

Negative. Golden Grove declined the offer of triple headers earlier in the season. The C3 game is scheduled to be at Golden Grove.

Yeah I wasn't too fussed really. Made it a close game after quarter time...
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

I think the club would have declined originally as our D grade were due to play prior to our C grade in the last round. But our D grade do not have a game now as Gepps Cross forfeited. Think it would be ideal for both clubs to have all 3 games at the one venue......support staff etc.....

Big win for your boys on the weekend satchel especially coming into finals would reassure the boys they are contenders in this comp. Where mitcham missing any players not saying I didn't think you could get the win just going by the a and b results, thought the a would of been closer an thought the b would of been a bigger win. Fp smosh should be a cracker of a game and hopefully I can get out to watch it. Another 2 big games would b Portland pooraka and the mitcham pembroke if Portland can get a big win there is a chance of taking 3 of mitcham. I think both teams would be looking at big wins and to take that going into finals would be huge

We went through the same with you guys (GG) this year. Quite accomodating for us to come up for the triple but would not return the goods a few weeks back. If there is an opportunity to have one, clubs should jump on it. Not saying anything bad about it as its been and gone but it would have been a ripper day both rounds if we did have it.
Seeing that it would take an absolute miracle for POS to beat Mitcham this week it looks like Portland and GG to play off in the first week. Unfortuneatly again it looks like it wont be a home game for us on the Sunday. With the rules being that we have to play on a neutral ground, does it have to be 1/2 way or as close too for both clubs? Would that then make it Elizabeth or there abouts?

Yeah mate big win and a huge confidence boost for us. I had a good chat with the Mitcham guys after the game and they didnt make mention of it. We had the big outs that i was really concerned about. I thought that they would be too big a holes to fill but my lads came through. OUr B grade have hit some straps ( abit late but never the kless) and the A grade game was just a fantastic result. Agreed, FP and Smosh is teh game to watch. Mitcham would hacve been hoping that they got the points on Saturday and then have FP win this week to give them a real crack at 2nd spot. As ive said on here just before i think POS will need their entire B grade side to even get remotley close to Mitcham. I cant see the spots changing form where they are right now. If anything i would rather Smosh and Mitcham fight off and we get the looser (IF all going to plan this week) and they are a little worse for ware and we could capitalise. In saying that this week and the finals are a different sort so it will be interesting.

SMOSH vs FP - Big game for Smosh and FP this week. I would say more for Smosh. They only took care of Seaton by a couple which i thought Smosh would have a bigger result than that. With FP having last week off i think they would be very hungry and keen to stamp their mark before having another week off next week. FP by 6-7 goals+

Mitcham vs POS - After a dissapoitning loss to us last week Mitcham will take POS to the cleaners at home. Unless POS stack the cr@p out of their side and help us get 3rd position ( =)) =)) [-o< ) Mitcham can not loose this one. Mitcham were good last week but in the end were run over and held well by my lads. Mitcham by 10goals +

PH vs Seaton - If PH have a side this week which i think is doubtful Seaton will have atleast the positives of keeping some of the top 5 honest towards the end of the season. If PH do fill a side it wont make a difference i dont think. Although PH did knock them off early in the year. If there is a game Seaton by 6-7 goals +

GG vs CBC - Word is the CBC side will be strengthened like it was earlier in the year. The question was asked if they can actually play this week as they have pulled the pin 3 times this year like PH. Evidently they can. If they are going to send off the year on a positive they can beat GG with the stronger side they have talked about and used before. After last week i think GG are struggling for consistant form. Saying that they can be a very good outfit and will be contenders come finals time. Its a tough one to call. Rumours are what they are but if true CBC will win this one. Otherwise seeing that its up at Harpers outpost GG should account for a dimished CBC side (i am hoping GG loose this one leading up to the first week of finals) so GG by 5 goals +

Portland vs Pooraka - Big, Big game for us. Regardless of the fact Pooraka are sitting 6th they can be a very unpredictable side to come up against. They have had some good games but on the other hand have had some spanking's like the rest of us have on occasions this year. Pooraka are hard at it and the man which our physical and forward pressure will need to stay up. We again have the big outs like last week but hopefully we should be able to manage. May have a secret weapon up our sleeves for Saturday. Just have to wait and see how that goes :)) :-$. I havent made a comment on who or by whjat on my game sthis year and wont start now. Hopefully we can continue our form and have consistency leading into next week against GG.
Its been an awesome year of C3 footy and hope everyone has a great last game. Have a good one!

yeh pretty spot on satchel. I'm thinking FP might get up by 10goals plus, i think smosh might have lost there touch since the first half of the season.

Any news on wether PH and CBc will actually fill a side this week? POS have loaded a side up (but means nothign as evidently tehy named 24 and again evidently ended up with 12) i feel the comment on 12 from their online magazine was very far fetched when they played us.

SMOSH vs FP - Looks like it was a close fought out game. Pretty low scoring and good on Smosh for keeping Demant to 2 for the day. Any reports from it? Would ahve liked to have watched taht one.
Mitcham vs POS - Not by as much as much as i thought Mitcham would win by. POS obviously had some backbone thsi week and went the small distance across town with a side to take on Mitcham.
PH vs Seaton - Great win by Seaton. Will give them some push for next year. PH obviously going to Div 4 next year so tehy should regroup and make a go of it next year.
GG vs CBC - CBC no team. Not good enough in my view. Last game of the year you should be able to fill a side. I still believe if the game was closer to home or at home CBC would have played. If you want to play in Div 3 or have sights on playing higher you need to be dinkum about it as a club and make sure players show up. I know how hard C grade can be but not 4 times in one year.
Portland vs Pooraka - Not as good a win as was expected. Pooraka was able to bring us down to their level. We were very ordinary in front of goal and going forward. Credit to Pooraka for keeping the game going but in the end we were rather lapse in our efforts. Scoreline on SAAFL is wrong in teh end we were 18 18 to 2 2. To only kick 6 goals a 1/4 to a bottom 5 side with te form we have had is ordinary. A win is a win and we'll take that and move on. Big game next week being the first Final we have been in in over 4 years. We drop that we're out and wont get some sort of reward for our efforts. we have been in the bottom 2 for 4 years now and need to ghet something back. GG will be a big task and as we know finals are a different ball game all together.

how do you propose we "make sure players turn up" - pull your head in mate, the club tried (as it does every week) to fill a side. It wasn't so long a go that your C Grade was struggling

I think that the bigger problem for our C grade with the forfiet was more that CBC should not have been playing anyway due to the third forfiet, they asked the SAAFL to be able to play and ended up needing to pull the pin anyway. We had D grade training on saturday morning and there were still a heap of guys turning up to play when they could have joined us and had a session earlier. In the end though no big deal and I think this time of year it can be tough to get those players out if they know that they are looking at a big loss!

I wont be pulling nothing in mate. CBC asked to play this week and ended up not having a side. Our side has not (since ive been involved and thats 4 years) we have never pulled the pin on a game. Even once last year we had 14 players and ended up having a full side with blokes coming from work. We have always filled a side and are very proud of that. If you call struggling being in the bottom 2 for most years but still able to put a side on the park with no issues. Then yes i am happy to say that we have struggled but we have changed this so called struggle and are now playing finals wtih a red hot crack at making it at the imprtant end. Proud to say it.

We didn't ask to play we were told we could. We thought we could get a side together and came up short - sorry for trying to do the right thing and put a game on. If we pulled out earlier in the week you would still be bagging us.

No mate thats not where we are heading with this. I may have worded it wrongly but its a direct attack at your players fior not getting behind your club. Time for them to pull there heads in not outsiders making points about the whole situation. New coach or mentality up there for you guys.
Getting past this now lets look at what your plans are for next year. What would you do differently then? Not being a smart a$$ just a simple question.

First Week of Finals:

The schedules are in and the home sides are in bold:

Smosh vs Mitcham - What a way to start the first week. From reports Smosh werent that flash but still kept FP honest. Wasnt there just by what some of the FP and Smosh boys have told me. If Smosh can get back to ealry form i will find it hard to see Mitcham getting up. Mitcham had an easy win last week and should rebuild on that and take Smosh all the way to the end. Remember that Mitcham did take care of Smosh a couple of weeks ago so it will be a cracker. Wont be surprised if FP make the treck up to Mawthorn oval to take notes. Not predicting yet. Will wait and see how the teams line up on Friday. one thing i would do is put the guy that wore No 1 against us and put him on Cook. Make Cook accountable instead of sitting back waiting for the rebound or easy gets. Can see this game going either way by 2 goals

Portland vs GG - Another big game. Combined losses for GG of over 120 odd points to us will give us some sort of confidence but again finals footy is so so very different. Can see it being a closer game than what it has been. The blonde guy with the long hair tore us up on both occasions but just didnt have the support to help him. We should have the players back that we have been missing over the past 2-3 weeks so we are in good stead. This is on the previso taht they are able to get off work (not looking too godd). Still not going to predict the scores here. Dont want to go against my build up before a game.

FP aving the week oof after a good slog against Smosh should dop them some good to take on as i would think may be Smosh (just) unless Mitcham can get back to their early graces which saw them kickon really well.

when i saw FP vs Mitcham all they did was made cook accountable which he wasn't. I think you just need a guy that can tag hime when there going forward and then be able to get into space cos he won't man up. The SMOSH vs Mitcham will be a cracker of game and hopefuly I can get down there to watch it. Don't worry Satchel your boys have been playing some good footy and should get the job done easy. Do you think though if FP beat the winner of SMOSH and MItcham and get the week off again it could be there undoing? Having 2 weeks off in 4 weeks wouldn't be good coming into the big day.

heard there was a pretty average preformance by a smosh player in the game on the weekend tackling a bloke then laying into him continually was sent off red card i beileve and a report then on the way off the ground grabbed a fp player and headbutted him! yet no report on the saafl website!!!

on the game itself i saw the first half and was pretty much fp just wasting alot of chances! should be good to see how the finals pan out!! hopefully Fp can get 3 in a row!! :D
