Race for the 8

Postby Jim05 » Sun Aug 07, 2011 10:28 pm

With the top 5 all safely playing finals this season, i thought id look at who will fill the final 3 spots.
Have placed wins in bold

St Kilda (42 points) : Collingwood (Etihad), Sydney (ANZ), Kangaroos (Etihad), Carlton (MCG)
Sydney (38) : Richmond (MCG), St Kilda (ANZ), Geelong (Skilled), Brisbane (SCG)
Essendon (38) : Bulldogs (Etihad), West Coast (Patersons), Port (Etihad), BYE
Fremantle (36) : Carlton (Patersons), Kangaroos (Etihad), Collingwood (Patersons), Bulldogs (Etihad)
Kangaroos (32) : BYE, Fremantle (Etihad), Saints (Etihad), Richmond (Etihad)
Melbourne (32) : West Coast (Etihad), Richmond (MCG), Gold Coast (MCG), Port (AO)
Bulldogs (28) : Essendon (Etihad), Port (AAMI), Hawthorn (MCG), Dockers (Etihad)

Out of that I get
6th Sydney 50 points
7th St Kilda 46 points
8th Essendon 42 ponts
Missing Out : Kangaroos 40, Melbourne 40, Bulldogs 40, Fremantle 36

I reckon that the Saints win their last three. Sydney have been losing in Sydney all year and the Saints nearly beat Carlton when they were playing like crap.

The Saints v Swans game is the key, winner will probably finish 6th and host the final.

You will be playing Sydney in Sydney if you dont beat them up there next week.
Finals draw done after last game is concluded. Real possibility all finals will be in Melbourne first week. Would think 3 at the MCG and 1 at Etihad.

Sydney can't beat good sides at Homebush. Richmond this week is far from certain. Swans are far from a lock.

Highly unlikely IMO. Collingwood would need to drop 2 of their last 4 for that to happen.

Cats won't get top spot. Even if we beat the Pies we have a bye to come as well. It's looking like a Geelong v Hawthorn final and I have NEVER seen us win one of those. Bout time we put that hoodoo to sleep!

Roos missed a huge opportunity yesterday after hitting the front with 5 min to go.

Now going to be tough but all the last 3 games are winnable, might get them in.
