:D Yeah strong ties for sure. His old man is a premiership player at Victor though - perhaps we should grant him life membership just in case Tom sees the light one day! ;)

I noticed Darcy Hourigan who I think won the Junior Colts medal last year whilst playing for Strath, played Reserves for South Adelaide and was named 5th best. He sounds like he's bound for League footy at SANFL and probably AFL in the not too distant future.

He would presumably be 2 or 3 years away from being old enough to be drafted.

Dick & Shirley's work is unquestionable, and I know for a fact Tom's parents let him chose where he wanted to play (where his uncle was still playing of course), but I reckon Brett might have something to say about that comment. At least 4 generations of both playing and off field involvement (incl 2 presidents and life members) is nothing to be sneezed at. Old Doc Pearsons played, was our President in the 50s, historian (wrote the 100yrs history book in the 80s). Taking the premiership cup into his house (next to the oval) on the night of the GF and singing the song (he penned our original song!) when he was too old/sick to leave the house is a memory that will stay with me forever.

When we first went to compass we were filming bits and pieces of some of the matches and I said to my youngest son - keep the camera on Ziggy because he's going to take the 'biggest screamer' one day....lol.

Looks like yesterday was that day and I missed it !! :(

A few things on facebook this morning about it so must have been good...lol O:)

Yes, he got his chance after a good State U/16 carnival and his good form in the U/18's. Absolute talent. We wont see him back at strath for a while.

I dunno about that one, I remember Encounter going to Demon Park and coming away with a 2 point win about 5 years ago when they were in their prime!

Good to see Steve Fairhurst get best for Victor on the weekend, obviously over his early season niggles. Courageous player, top lad.

He's had a very good month - 1st, 2nd, 5th and 1st best. Not the flashiest of players, but puts in a tough contest throughout the whole game. Good pickup.

Yes he is, as fair as they come, captained Smithfield at a very early age, averaged 8+ tackles per game last season.

How do you get cleared to another league on Wednesday, then play in this league on Saturday?

Well it looks like he has gone to Thevenard Tiger83, and another 2 with him. Perry is a pretty big loss:

Round 11 - July 30, 2011
Koonibba 21.10 (136) def Thevenard 13.13 (91)
Goals: Konnibba – S Haynes 8, X Smith 6, D Doolan 4. Thevenard – A Braendler, C Williams 4, M Thredgold 2, Z Perry, R Meier, L Oestman. Best _ Konnibba – S Haynes, C Coleman, S Benbolt. Thevenard – J Jackson, A Braendler, I Grills.

YANKALILLA Far West Football League Perry, Zac Approved 28/07/11 28/07/11
YANKALILLA Far West Football League Jackson, Jarryd Approved 28/07/11 28/07/11

Are they all from over there originally - late in the year for clearances?

I think they can only get cleared this time if its based on a change of address?? Happened about a week ago with a player from Ramblers in the RMFL moving to the Riverland and being cleared to a Riverland Independent club.

Thats what I thought. A quick search shows Perry and Braendler are from there.

So what is going to be match of the round this week in the GSFL, keen to get down and have a look then watch a bit of Reynella Morphett Vale on Sunday.

Are the Larks still an outside chance for finals?

Round 15 August 6th
Goolwa-Pt Elliot V Encounter Bay
Victor Harbor V McLaren
Langhorne Ck V Myponga-Sellicks
Yankalilla V Willunga
Strathalbyn V Mt Compass

All games potentially pretty good this week qwerty, but the last 3 would be of most interest. Pongy are a chance (1 win and % behind Victor) but pretty slim as they have to play the top 4 sides whereas Victor have the top 2 and bottom 2.
I reckon I'd be heading to Yank to see how they perform against Willunga if I were you.

Cheers mate - looks like yank and willunga, closest out of the three games you mentioned is a bonus.

Looks like the GSFL is shaping up to be a wide open finals series also this year with anyone on their day capable of taking home the big one.

I see Craig Dobson is playing again for Willunga these days, is it his first year back and if so how has he been going?

Strath welcomes back Marc Elliott into the A grade this week after his sickening injury in round 2. Good luck to the young fella.
