Which sucked badly and got very annoying if your name was Kylie......

Around about the same time we got a soda stream machine, which i thought was quite brilliant too.

I remember getting our first VCR too and my mum always having to drive all the way to West Terrace because it was the only video hire shop in Adelaide!

I was just thinking the other day about some of the videos that were out when we got a VCR around '82..
- They Shoot Horses Dont They
- Victory
- "Herbie" movies
- The Omen
- Cujo
- When a Stranger Calls
- Greece
- History of the World
- Terence Hill/Bud Spencer movies - Watch Out We're Mad / Who Finds a Friend Finds a Treasure (was very surprised to learn as a kid they were Italian movies, and as such were dubbed

There was also a movie that I can only vaguely remember. I'm not sure if it was based around one of the wars, Vietnam or Korean perhaps? I think it was based around a form of torture where those captured were tied to a jetty (?) and drowned when the water level rose. Thats a very vague summary because I was very young when it was released. I can't recall which actors were in it.

Pioneer Village is indeed a housing estate now. Drive past it many days, and from memory, the estate itself is called Pioneer Village now. Keep meaning to go to Tailem Town next time I visit Mum.

When jumbos first starting landing at Adelaide Airport, and going down to watch them land.

Mine was 458514 in Findon.

I am 53...

My deceased mum always put a lot of emphasis on learning this number if we got lost.

She would always say, if you get lost, find a policeman and he will buy you an icecream.... :-? =)) :-j :-j

I can remember our phone at Keith was a 2 digit number and you dialled and spoke to the operator to make a "trunk" call, moving to Coonalpyn which had a automatic exchange in '74 was nearly as exciting as getting colour TV

Yep we had the same set up at Karoonda when I was 16 years old.
So/but that was only 26 years ago (1985).

When you think about it - that really isn't that long ago - it's totally amazing how far things have come from that to mobile phones etc.
Mind boggling.

O:)
