After the second win, even North supporters said we were the best team they've played this year.

Eight changes the next week saw the start of a bad slide and a total loss of confidence. Looking at the players who came in yesterday and were obviously underdone - Piasente, Hartlett, Ben Fisher, etc, - shows what we've been missing.

That said, we've put in some really poor efforts in recent weeks and the mental strength of some had to be questioned.

Yesterday's game? Our skill level was way below Norths and was embarrassing at times. Our game plan gave us 8 more inside 50's, but North killed us on our turnovers. I would have been confident before the game if I knew that North's tall forwards would be held to only one goal, that Fielke would shut down Bennett, that Fisher would kick 5 and Webb 3, (and Jimmy Allan wouldn't get a touch), but that would have ignored our deplorable skill level and too many players hardly touching the footy.

North had some really good players and I thought Thiele and Armstrong were outstanding, amongst several other good players.

Oh, I've thought that Richard Williams has been umpiring pretty well for a fair while now, but I think his 'non-call' on Motlop holding-the-ball in front of the stand was hilarious :D

Dont think you can go in with 3 players underdone and then use it as an excuse after it does not work. The last time it worked for West was in 2009 with Ferg and it has failed dismally ever other time.

We won 10 games last season so I don't think that option will be available.

As much as we are going well off the field, I don't think we are in the position to pay for 2 coaches next season.

Some times you have to bite the bullet. Is it worth holding off rebuilding and a change in on field direction?

What makes you think we are going well off the field?

We will struggle to pay for one let alone two.

Is the club rooms/ bar as popular during the week as it is on match day, relatively speaking? Looked to be pretty well pumpng during the day aswell as after the game. Have an acquaintance who is down there every friday night and he says it is pretty well like the local pub.

Doesn't he have one more year to run on his contract? Can West Adelaide afford to pay out his $120k plus contract and then pay a new coach for next year as well?
So you've seen everything have you?

You know BC, no Club can "afford" to payout a coach but sometimes it has to happen. Roosters are a case in point.Crowd at Richmond was out numbered at least two to one in favour of The Roosters. Supporters dropping off would have to be a concern.

The bar is doing well but no doubt could do it better. I think the problem is the restaurant and also the football department spending more than it makes.

It is very much like the local though.

That is the question that needs to be asked i think.

No doubt he has moved us from the hole we were in 4 years ago but we have gone backwards this year with a better list. I know injuries have played a part but how we have gone from where we were after round 4 is hard to fathom.

Surely the first and most important question is can they get someone in to do a better job? West are a fair way ahead of where they were when he took over, we've seen with South that changing coaches doesn't necessarily mean an improvement. West clearly have a lack of class in their playing stocks, especially midfield, compared to the comp and even more so when they lose a few troops which is the major reason for where they are. How much do you put that down to the senior coach and would someone else fix that more effectively than Collins? I'm not so sure.

Obviously I don't get to see a lot of West, but I did catch a bit of the recent game against the Eagles, and they looked incredibly dis-spirited.

Injuries really come into the equation when a team (any team, not just Westies) get's outclassed, but the abilities of the 21 in a clubs guernsey should have zero bearing on the effort they put in .. I thought it was very noticeable in that Eagles game how lost many players looked and appeared to have lost interest in doing the hard yards.

That's concerning for a coach because that is an area for which they are completely responsible IMHO .. Hopefully for the Bloods sake it gets rectified, because they have plenty of talented footballers, no worries there.

 westies going well? Far from it. The restaurant is not there to be profitable, but it is terrible and far from breaking even. The club can not afford to get rid of him but I do think the CEO should take a pay cut but also I think he will be hoping Collins goes home!!

Maybe Westies need to promote it more, the eatery that is a part of the front bar is awesome value and makes a far better (and cheaper) Mexican Nachos than Montezumas!
