No doubt about it... Truly a killer flick! 8)
However the Yanks had to stick their oar in to & create a typically sub-par clone called
'GREEN STREET HOOLIGANS''
I'm sorry, but Dildo Baggins (That Hobbit Elijah Wood) doesn't convince me as
somebody who'd be accepted by the likes of the Chelsea Headhunters cracking Millwall skulls etc.

The Real Number 3 wrote:Hey FC, Gridion Gang is a good movie. We watched it the other for a team bonding thing! The Rock actually does ok in the film
Hmmm, Paralowie team bonding! Watchin a movie about Prisoners playin Football? Criminals make good? Good choice, thought it would be more a Greenacres type movie though!

I really hate american sports movies. So so predictable, they all contain the following:
The guy who quits the team and comes back.
The romance, the guy always gets his girl.
Come from behind victory in the big game.
Arrogant cliched coaches.
The opposition coach in the big game is the biggest arsehole in the world!
The big random party out of nowhere!

There are a few exceptions
Happy Gilmore is a personal fave, especiallt the fight with Bob Barker
The Club, speaks for itself that 1. Love it
Days of Thunder

Bret Hart: Wrestling with Shadows
An inciteful documentary showing the inner workings of the Pro-'rasslin biz from
the point of view of 'The Excellence of Execution' Bret Hitman Hart.
Includes the infamous 'Montreal Screw-job' & goes to show you what a money hungry,
ruthless, racist & evil prick that Vince McMahon is in real life as well as his persona on telly!

Still waiting for Spike Lee to make 'The Jackie Robinson Story.'

Some that haven't been mentioned...

Bad News Bears (with Walter Matthau)
The Color of Money
Don King: Only In America
Heaven Can Wait
Eight Men Out
The Harder They Fall
He Got Game
The Hustler
Jerry Maguire
North Dallas Forty
On the Waterfront
The Rookie

But the greatest sports film of all-time...

The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh, starring Dr. J.

Don't know if you had this one,

Sly in Escape to Victory, with Michael Caine, and a host of world class players, Ossie Ardiles, Mike Summerbee, John Wark,

Did Burts version have a different title, Mean Machine I think

Does Stir Crazy count? Was about rodeos

More recent Goal and Goal II
Bend it like Beckham
Think there was a follow up to Caddyshack
That Olympic Jamaican Bobsledge Team film, think with John Candy

Bill Murray, "boy from nowhere, cinderella story"

And I know it's not a film so doesn't count, but the Simpsons episode where Homer is the manager of the springfield little league baseball team. "Your cut shushy"
Which brings to mind Charlie Brown. Good Grief

Is one of my favorites MAL, I have the DVD special edition which includes about and hour an a half audio of an interview between director and Tommy Woodcock... Brilliant!!!

Still get goose bumps when he runs into the mounting yard late for the Melbourne Cup!!! Little Scoob loves it too, timeless TRUE story!

Cool Runnings was done quite well considering.

For the older ones on here, don't know if you remember this one but I really liked Rollerball, James Caan, circa 197(something).
