Disagree Centurion. 1. From what I can gather you are suggesting that all tackles be conducted with both players standing? 2. Coaches have instructed players from day dot to bring the player to ground. 3. Depending on the situation, both the the tackler and player being tackled, (tackleree??), may want the ball either to be dislodged or want to keep the ball bottled up - and in some instances bringing the player to ground may be the best way of achieving that.
