We obviously have a large contingent of players from the Army - I think it's something like 10 being deployed overseas this week for a long stretch, Friday night was a good night out with mates etc before they go away.
Im not saying it's a good thing etc, Im saying this isn't an every week occurance.
As a club, we can't expect to have a smooth easy ride every week, we are always going to have our up and downs, I don't think there is any reason to be hitting panic stations just yet or for any reason for that matter.
In my opinion, there is no doubting Ovingham need to do a lot of work in the off season to recruit more full time players so the affect of the army lads leaving isn't so big on the side and to find some more volunteers and helpers, but apart from that its a good culture and feeling around the club.
As Phantom said it isnt anywhere near a panic station stage. When someone is going over to work in a life or death situation it is understandable that they and those closest to them may want to blow off some steam before embarking into a situation that for most of us we could never even have an understanding of. What was most disappointing was that it had such a large impact on what was a very important game as far as us keeping our 3rd spot on the ladder in the run to the finals.
As for the helper situation. Yes it isnt very good when you have players that require a trainer to help strap them or give rub downs before the game and you basically have no one there to help.
We only have a few that do the work of alot of people. All credit to them but as Phantom said it is definately something that has to be addressed in the off season.
In the main there is absolutely nothing wrong with the present culture at the club. But we do need more people to be out there on a more regular basis.
Hopefully deeman will still be there in a coaching capacity as I think he is a vital part of the club since coming across.
With 4 of the top 5 teams in the run home it is going to be a very tough run home and if we cant string a few wins together then could possibly miss playing finals.
