We improved our performance from our last meeting and never chucked it in, as we know previous teams would have seen the result turn into a complete blow out. Norwood's height was always going to be our downfall as it proved to be. Strangest crowd at a game, good in number but quiet all day from both sides, wierd.

Dont write Centrals off yet. Dont forget we match up well on you guys, we have been embarassed twice by the Eagles this year so the race is wide open

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, sounded like Josh Allen had a great game for the Redlegs coming in as a late replacement for Brett Zorzi, who pulled out* of the side.

Anyone know what is / was wrong with Zorzi?

No one is writing Centrals off .... still the team to beat for the flag which is played for in September/October not now !
I rate the Eagles as the sleeper and a BIG danger to sneak a flag.
Norwood are one of three who I believer can win the premiership.

Given how often many of us - including myself at times - give them negative feedback, thought it only fair to say that, by and large, it was one of the best umpired games I've seen all season. The three men in white, including Richard Williams, let the play flow, paid only what was there (apart from a couple late) and allowed the players to go about their business in relative peace. Very refreshing to watch.

Have to agree with this. No AFL-ish HTB decisions this week which was a nice change.

Got there 1/2 time of ressies and all car parks were full, they opened another carpark around the back of oval and used the back gates, never seen that before. Also went to canteen at start of league game and they were running very low on stocks and hold sold out of some drinks so i guess the crowd was bigger than expected.
I would think 3200 maybe more

Jim did you see the guy at the canteen who had a fall at the start of the game
Poor guy bought a drink from the canteen , turned around and a sMALl feMALe child walked into his line
He attempted to sidestep the kid, lost balance and fell on the child
It was very fortunate no serious injuries were sustained, the guy had a big fall
The child was crying and its dad came over
I was thinking an altercation was about
But the dad apologised to the gent, the gent was clearly distressed with the incident
He apologised constantly, and was more concerned about the child than his battered body

In one of the most touching things Ive seen at a football game, the gentleman went to purchase a Lolly from the canteen
A SA canteen worker who witnessed the incident gave him a giant snake lolly for free
The gentlemen gave the sMALl child the lolly
The parents of the child, and the absolute gentleman all deserve recognition for thier handling of the situation

The little girl belonged to Souths ex Coach, Captain and player, Clay and Tasha Sampson, poor little lass, it was her second fall for the day, so she was really in the wars, Maxine, who featured in the Footy Budget a couple of weeks ago, saved the day with the giant snake lolly.

Yep, we were attacked on all sides Sunday at the BBQ, lucky to see the day out without running out of stock. The Panther Club do a great job manning it each week throughout the footy season.
I wish my remembering was as good as my forgetting

Well done to Ron Fuller for complimenting Norwood with their clash jumper:

Two suggestions re: BBQ/canteen facilities. Can soft drinks be sold at the BBQ kiosk instead of having to line up again  at the kiosk next door? And would it be possible for soft drinks to be sold in bottles instead of cans? Can't understand why only soft drink cans were available. Surely throwing a can would do more damage than a PET bottle! I can understand that because the Panthers are sponsored by Schweppes that there was no Coke brand drinks were available, but please, bottles not cans for softdrinks.

Well you can ask for a can of soft drink from the BBQ section,it's not rocket surgery. Just in case you didn't notice, alcohol is sold in cans, even at the parade.

TSG, always helping out the bandwagoners. ;)

The man who tripped over the little kid may have actually fallen on the cans of drink he had bought
Imagine if he had fallen on a bottle

Im sure somewhere along the line cans were introed at sporting venues because they are safer

interesting match report from bass
i like it.

BASS’S BLOG:

NORWOOD V PANTHERS

It’s not that long a drive to Noarlunga on a weekend morning thanks to that little marvel of a South Australian invention, the one way freeway. When I get to Beach Road and the turn off the round-a-bout there always brings memories flooding back, all of them bad.

In 2001, after a one point win against South, it was the undoing of my Ford Fairmont XW Hearse, my beloved car becoming confused about which side of the road it was meant to be on and hitting another car head on. That Sunday night was one of the low points in my football career, though thankfully the hearse, and my football career recovered; the Ford badge on the front of the grill however was lost forever.

Every time I head to Noarlunga my eyes can’t help but scan the surrounds of that round-a-bout, still searching fruitlessly for that Ford badge. Just like my XW, recently sold and back in business as a hearse in Western Australia, it is gone forever.

This week I enjoyed the drive back a lot more than the same one I had on a Sunday ten years ago. I was able to think about our improved ball movement out of defence and the performances of Josh Allen, Stuart Bown and Keiran McGuinness. I smiled at the memory of Tim Webber running and bouncing the ball down the ground, hitting a target inside 50. I thought about Darren Pfeiffer and his elite movement, some of it at a level well above any of his peers. Then there was Brady Dawe.

Brady presented well, his marking was high class, he was very competitive and I think he has the potential to be an excellent forward for the Norwood Football Club. This week we have Port, a game in which many more of our supporters will be at. I hope he backs it up and you see for yourself.
