Agreed. The Crows really need to try and get in someone from outside the club next year. Clarkson, Malthouse, Roos even Wallace as much as I dislike him.

Laidley? I know he's back in Melbourne now but you would think would come back for the kind of money the Crows could pay him and even though I doubt he'd be a long term coach could shake things up for the next 2-3 years.

I wouldn't like to see the Crows give the job to a first time coach. They need someone who's seen it all before, could deal with the pressures of coaching the #1 team in town and isn't worried about being their mates.

Mark Bickley will not be a senior coach of a an AFL club. Giving him this role is pointless. Hart seems like he understands the game the most of all the Crows assitants, would've given him a crack for the six weeks. Bickley was/is a hard worker, but that's it.

Leon Cameron should be a target for the Crows, they haven't had any fresh blood from outside the Adelaide environment for a long time. Very highly rated, done a long apprenticeship, understands the game well and always seems in control of his words. Would be ideal I think. Can't have anyone with links already at the club, and I'm not convinced an older coach will help that much. Clarkson worked with Hawthorn, in time I think Hardwick and Scott will work at Richmond and North Melbourne. Follow that formula.

Depending on who's available, and making assessment of these blokes from the outside only, I would look at Clarkson, Burns, Bassett in order.

I reckon Goodwin has to be the frontrunner however.

Would love to see Bassett get the gig next year.
I rate that bloke very highly.
If not that, Roos with Bassett given a role somewhere. I see him as a future premiership coach. (maybe even this season??)
It'd be a shame if he went over the border to coach.

Need to get rid of some of these "Oh. I'm an AFL footballer player" type people as well, the list is not the best of any club, there are guys playing AFL footy for the Crows that would not make an AFL Reserves side, more needs to be cleaned out from the top to the bottom, Crows need a total rebuild and get personel put in place that have no identity to the footy club.

One thinks there could well be some very interesting times ahead for the Adelaide Crows

It was obvious that his time was up and I was starting to wonder if he would live up to his word and resign when he thought the time was right. I'm glad that he was able to do this and go out with some dignity. Neil Craig has been a great coach for the club, he's given the supporters a great ride, many ups and downs and through it I think he has kept a level head and a good perspective on things. never forget that in 2005 when everybody wrote the Crows off pre season he came very close to a GF and possible flag. Well done Craigy, good luck.

Let the party begin.... Oh hang on..... now we have another spud in Bickley

'Great coach for the crows' is going a bit overboard, the window was open for him but he didnt take it.

do you really think he stepped down ? i reckon the is a 'flowry' sacking....the reason is if a bloke was going to step down why would the same bloke be at noarlunga watching crows listed players play.....because i don't believe he was there watching norwood because it was one of the teams he played for
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Maybe he wants to coach Norwood when Bass goes to Crows ;)
