Tom Hennessy plays footy at the Blacks.

I reckon he is from Clare as well.

Good Bloke.

I played a lot with the Unley one as a junior and I recall him having a brother who was a little younger.
Sounds like them.

Thanks to Kilburn for rocking up with 12 players on Saturday (especially after we rang them on thurs night and was told they had a full team), this division is becoming a farce as we now havent played for over a month. I dont know why teams nominate a C grade team if u dont have enough. We had about 20 blokes out through injury and illness but still put together a team, at least Greenacres and Westminster did the right thing and didnt put a team in. Now all we can do is hope the team we play this week bothers to show up.

Obviously they thought they'd have enough if 12 of them rocked up, it makes it hard when you have 30 blokes missing out in April and then come July you are scratching to fill a side, a lot of the players think it seems like a good idea at the time until the weather, injuries and missing work come into the fray.
A lot of the time clubs have 70 players and think they have enough for 3 sides, IMO you need 90 on your books minimum.

We respect your frustration Beef.
At the start of the season we were concerned about this happening. In many ways we all should be grateful that Kilburn took up Wingfields spot in Round 2. The SAAFL need to iron out this on going problem (ducks for cover), maybe through having more teams in less low grade divisions.

Not even Norwood or Carlton could make our respective weekends better!

I hear what you're saying beef. Must be very frustrating for your players. From what I've seen Salisbury have outgrown Div 4? Seem to have got all your teams running really well. Hopefully your A's do the right thing and you can go up, then you might get the competition you are after.

I guess the hard bit is that in Div 4 you have such a mixture of clubs. You have some that have designs on moving up higher and are running smoothly/professionally and others that are battling to keep their heads above water.

For clubs like Kilburn and Pulteney to stabilise, strengthen and grow they need to have a C Grade. Even if it is a battle by the end of the season to remain on the park, just having these teams around helps their B's which in turns helps the A's. I know at Pulteney we didn't have a C Grade last season and our B's really struggled as a result (for numbers and quality). This season our C's have at least provided some support and a source of players to the B's. Whilst our C's have got smashed every week the B's have done alright.

We hope that 2011 has been a small step in building a stronger club and that it will be easier next season because of the work done this season. Not much consolation to your players though I know.

Just don't let some individuals undo all the good work that has begun this season just like in 2007/2008.

In hindsight it could have been handled far better by those involved if they could see the larger picture but it wasn't to be.

Tony, you seem to have forgotten which club you're from. Is it AUFC or PFC?

It seems as though C4 is the comp that this happens in each year for the last few years? It sucks I know, leading into last years finals we played about 2 games in 6 weeks also. In the old days of C grade sides the rest would be a blessing but the average age of most clubs C grade sides are a lot younger now days so it is harder to get the payers to stay focused. In C6, we have the last round bye/forfeit and are hopeful of finishing top and having the first week off. With our average age in the low to mid 30s the two weeks off would be fantastic leading in.

We played your C grade in trial this year and also last year, you guys would be the outright favs so take the rest while you can, finals is just a few weeks away!

Should not you be saying thanks to the 12 that did take the effort to show up
Obviously they thought they had a full team, otherwise they would not have come
I know it must be frustrating but it would have been also frustrating for the 12 also

Could the C Grades be split into two divisions after the first 9 rounds?

Eg the top 6 play against each other in the second half of the season and fight it out for the top five and finals. And the bottom 4 play against each other?

So many lopsided results. I wouldn't think that many teams (top or bottom) would be getting much out of some of these matches.

the 50m areas are roughly the same on all grounds but it would get tiring kicking 5 with 10 goal assists
